Today we’d like to introduce you to TWO32 .
Hi TWO32, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
With my father being a rapper in his early adulthood and my mother’s natural love for music I can say that I’ve been around music all my life. I didn’t take my own crack at anything until I was in 4th grade though where I had to write a rap for Thanksgiving. From that point on I’d casually freestyle with cousins from time to time but never took the art form seriously until I was maybe 13 years old. I found myself freestyling on the back of a bus one night with my other band mates and it hit me that I may have a natural talent. That’s when I started spending a lot of my free time writing raps over old school classics in my room until I ultimately decided this is what I want to spend my life doing at 17. Since then I’ve been working towards a life as a full time musician, dedicating much time to improving not only my skills and my overall being.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Admittedly most of my struggles have been with myself though I feel. It’s one thing to be good at making music but to actually turn your love for an art form into something that can sustain life is a feat in itself. On this road I’ve faced much doubt that I have triumph over time and time again. There have been many moments where I’ve thought things may skyrocket and they didn’t and in some of those moments I even considered giving up. I’ve spent a good amount of money that they don’t tell you is necessary to pursue a career in music. I’ve lost money, I’ve spent all of my 20’s in pursuit of a dream, I’ve missed out on being with my family in times where we all needed each other all in the hopes of making this work out for me and with that comes a lot of feelings truly but overall I expect what happens down the road to make up for all that.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a musician from Queens, NY and have been making music for 10 years seriously, but have been deeply involved and in love with music all my life. I’d say that I’m a singer/songwriter with a rap background and would say when it comes to my music I’m mostly known for the honesty of my lyrics and how effortlessly I string together melodies. In all my years of making music I’d say I’m most proud of going on a fan-funded tour with some friends back in 2018 or 2019 because it really put into perspective what we could do as indie artists. I think that’ll forever be a motivating factor for me as it was my first tour ever. I’d say my ability to blend various components from different styles of music sets me apart outside of my personality and natural inclination to grow, hence why I’m revered as a “genre-bender”.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Of course!! Firstly I want to shoutout all of my supporters in the TWO Crew because they’ve been behind me before they had a name and before my music was even this good. Each and every one of the listeners of my music have inspired me to keep going on more counts than I can name. I have to give thanks to my boy DMC Tha Lync for being the first producer to work with me and give me a chance. He helped me to build my sound early on I feel and we made a lot of special moments so far. I have to thank my bestfriend Ra[K]oon for not only being my friend and helping me through tough days but also for being such a helping hand when it comes to shooting content for any music or marketing plans that may come about. I want to thank my boy Giancarlo Louis for mastering a majority of my earlier work and acting as my first manager. I must thank my director Chris Omar for all the visuals that we’ve shot together and for always utilizing his network so that we have the best quality coming from our low budget productions. Lastly I’ll thank my boy Mattics (producer) for all the magic we’ve been making with these last two projects we’ve worked on, “777: Side A & B”. There’s many more people I could thank but I think those are the most prominent.
