Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Fulmer
Hi Trevor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In April 2019, I launched Trevor Fulmer Design. I had recently been published in The Boston Globe and client inquiries were rolling in, but in March 2020 life came to a standstill — covid. My client’s and I were all suddenly stuck at home. This meant no client visits, no vendor appointments, no contractor work, nothing. I thought I picked the absolute worst timing to launch my own business, or did I? Shortly after lockdown, the home industry flourished and so did my interior design business. My team and I are still experiencing wonderful growth and I am so proud of what we have accomplished! The sky is the limit.
My name is Trevor Fulmer and I am principal of Trevor Fulmer Design. We are a creative-driven full-service interior design studio that approaches each space with a nontraditionalist and livable modern aesthetic.
We thoughtfully curate each interior, carefully crafting a holistic sensory-provoking experience. We believe a client’s home is the backdrop to their life’s story; it should be a comforting place to reflect on the past, present and future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, yes. My team and I have been fortunate over the past 5 years. We’ve worked with incredible clients, vendors, and contractors. We’ve surrounded ourselves with talented mentors who have helped guide us. We have aligned our business strategy with a professional coach that has assisted us in making the right decisions. We’ve grown quickly and expanded our services and offerings by launching two product collections, which I elaborate more on later in our interview.
With every business there are challenges — “how much do we charge”, “how many clients can we work with at any given time”, “how do we attract new clients”, “stylistically, what are the best suppliers for any given project”, etc.
We have also made mistakes — “this hardware was ordered in the wrong metal finish”, “this ‘gray’ wall paint has to much of a yellow undertone”, “I didn’t realize how quickly we need to grow the team”, etc.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our interiors are a feast for the senses; there are design surprises at every turn, from playful furniture geometries to standout wallpapers and fabrics. With our own custom rug collections, style is always underfoot as well.
Our proven, client-focused process results in extraordinary interiors. Our framework is founded on building trust, growing relationships, and exceeding expectations. Through collaborative partnership, the studio creates custom experiences that reflect our clients and their individual needs. We have established a skillfully trained network of artisan tradespeople, specialists, and makers. Each is selected to meticulously implement their craft through each stage of the project.
We believe that a client’s home is the backdrop to their life’s story. It should be filled with their most important possessions and people. Above all, their home should be a comforting place to reflect on the past, present, and future.
Not only are we experienced interior designer, but we also have two eco-friendly and sustainable product collections:
Natural Principles: A grasscloth wallpaper and rug collection that is inspired by untouched and peaceful shapes found in nature. This collection features bold patterns set in an earth-toned color palette. trevorfulmerdesign.com/natural-principles
