Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Ragland.
Hi Spencer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
SpreadLoveMedia originally began as SpreadLove Photos, focusing primarily on photography. However, with the guidance of my father, I decided to expand beyond just photography, recognizing that my passion and involvement extended into merchandise, music, and other creative media. Rebranding as SpreadLoveMedia allowed me to build a more versatile and dynamic brand, incorporating various aspects of media while staying true to my artistic vision. With a self-taught background in photography and a keen eye for artistic expression, I have been able to cultivate a platform that not only showcases visual storytelling but also embraces a broader spectrum of creative endeavors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has certainly not been without its challenges. Like any entrepreneurial endeavor, there were obstacles along the way. SpreadLoveMedia was founded during the pandemic, a time of uncertainty that initially set me back and left me feeling discouraged. However, I used that period as an opportunity for growth, pushing myself to learn more about my craft, refine my skills, and truly master the art of photography.
One of the biggest challenges early on was securing bookings and building a loyal audience in such a competitive industry. With so many talented photographers in the field, I knew I had to differentiate myself. I dedicated time to studying the work of other professionals, analyzing their techniques, and continuously practicing on any photo opportunity I could find. Over time, this persistence not only improved my skills but also helped me transition into videography, where I applied the same learning approach. Through consistency, adaptability, and a commitment to my artistic vision, I was able to establish a stronger presence and grow SpreadLoveMedia into what it is today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In my field, I cover all aspects of media, including photography, videography, content creation, cover art, and promotional services. While I am involved in various creative disciplines, I am best known for my photography, having been published both nationally and internationally in multiple magazines.
One of my proudest accomplishments is seeing my work gain recognition, not only for myself but also for the artists and creators I support. Through my platform, I have helped promote numerous individuals, and my efforts have reached key figures in the music industry. My work has been reposted by well-known artists such as Jim Jones, Suzi, and Sig Da Trig, and I now serve as the official media representative for Sig Da Trig—an achievement that is especially meaningful since music has always been my first passion.
What sets me apart is that I am not just a photographer running a media company—I bring a multidimensional approach to my work. From serving as a media director for fashion shows to creating music, cover art, and press materials for artists, I have a deep creative passion and a broad skill set that allows me to offer a unique and comprehensive media experience. My creativity, versatility, and strong work ethic distinguish me in the industry, allowing me to bring a fresh and innovative perspective to every project I take on.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I see the media industry growing exponentially and becoming even more influential, especially for emerging platforms like SpreadLoveMedia. As digital content continues to dominate, media companies will play an increasingly vital role in shaping narratives, promoting artists, and connecting audiences worldwide. Recognition for independent media brands will expand as people realize that without platforms like SpreadLoveMedia and others, much of the creativity, culture, and industry news would go unnoticed. The demand for high-quality visual content, strategic promotion, and innovative storytelling will only continue to rise, positioning media companies as essential forces in the entertainment and creative industries.
