Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryder Klein
Hi Ryder, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Music has always been something I’ve loved ever since I was little, but I never really considered it as a career until I was 15. I started out DJing just for fun, and then I began producing my own music during my sophomore year of high school. It definitely took time and dedication to get to where I am today. I’d say it took at least three years to become really skilled at making music and writing songs. I’m proud of myself for investing so much time and effort into turning this passion into a career. It’s funny to look back at my first songs compared to what I create now—the improvement is drastic in the best way.
As the year comes to an end, I’d say it’s been quite a successful one. I gained over 5,000 followers on TikTok, released another album, and DJed my first club gigs in NYC. I feel incredibly grateful to be where I am today, and I’m excited to challenge myself even more in the upcoming year.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me. Some of my biggest struggles have come from being my own worst critic and worrying about what others might think of my music. Putting yourself out there can be scary, and I remember times when I doubted myself, thinking I shouldn’t release a certain song or that it didn’t sound good enough. But at some point, you just have to go for it and stop caring so much about what people think. Not everything has to be perfect—you just need to stay authentic and enjoy the process.
One of my biggest regrets is not collaborating with others earlier. In the beginning, I was nervous about working with other people because I feared they’d think my music wasn’t good enough or wouldn’t want to work with me. But over time, I started collaborating more with producers, singers, songwriters, and others. Ironically, one of my biggest fears turned into one of my greatest achievements: my second album, Immersion, features collaborations on every song. That project was one of the scariest and most ambitious things I’ve ever done, but I’m so glad it paid off. Now, collaborating is one of my favorite parts of making music.
To understand me more, I’ve struggled with anxiety my whole life. There were times when I was offered an amazing opportunity but got so anxious that I almost backed out. I’m so thankful I didn’t. My advice for anyone in similar situations is this: if you’re offered an opportunity to perform at a big venue or land a gig at a club, take it—even if you don’t feel 100% confident. That’s how you grow and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an electronic music producer, artist, songwriter, DJ, and social media influencer. I’m very proud of my work ethic and resilience because in such a competitive industry like music, success takes time. It’s essential to enjoy what you do and not get discouraged if you don’t hit, for example, a specific number of streams or views on social media. I’m also incredibly proud of the life experiences I’ve had, such as studying abroad and traveling the world. If I hadn’t done those things, I wouldn’t have created my second album. I believe that to write amazing music, you need to live your life, challenge yourself, and find inspiration in doing things you’ve never done before. Currently, I’ve been traveling in Europe for about a month, writing my third album while reflecting on my experiences and creating music.
What sets me apart from others is my songwriting. I’ve noticed that in my songs, I aim to take the listener on an adventure. To achieve this, I focus on creating memorable and catchy hooks, paired with dense, emotional production that provides “ear candy” for the audience. My ultimate goal is to remain authentic. Every song I’ve ever written stems from personal experience, which makes it more impactful—not only for the listener but for me as well.
In addition to songwriting, I believe my creativity sets me apart, especially on social media. This year, I’ve gained significant recognition through my DJ transition videos. The most surreal moment was when two of my TikTok DJ transition videos went viral on the same day—a moment I’m still in awe of. I didn’t expect it, but I think people recognized the passion and creativity I put into those videos, which helped me stand out and gain attention.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for anyone looking to network is to actively support the music community! Whether it’s attending a concert, supporting a friend at their gig, or participating in open mic/open deck sessions, these are excellent ways to put yourself out there and engage with the community. For example, if I have a gig and one of my DJ friends shows up to support me, it would be disrespectful not to return the favor. Supporting one another and being reciprocal is key.
Those are some of the best ways to network offline. Online, my favorite approach is to DM DJs or artists and ask if they’d like to collaborate on a track. Most people are eager to work on new projects and help one another succeed, which is one of the things I love most about collaborating in music.
While the idea of networking can sometimes feel anxiety-inducing, it’s important to put yourself out there and embrace who you are.
