Today we’d like to introduce you to Notorio 718.
Hi Notorio, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
First of all, thank you for having me. My journey began with humble beginnings in the Bronx, where I was born and raised. From an early age, I was deeply passionate about music, and this passion has been the driving force behind my career. Over the years, my path has taken me to various places, each contributing to my growth and experiences.
One of the significant milestones in my journey was moving to Europe, specifically Sweden. This move opened up new opportunities and allowed me to immerse myself in a different cultural and musical landscape. Along the way, there have been numerous stops and experiences that have shaped who I am today.
I feel incredibly fortunate and blessed to have had such a long and fulfilling career in music. The journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs, but each step has been a valuable part of my story. I am grateful for the support and love I have received from fans and colleagues alike, and I look forward to continuing this journey with the same passion and dedication.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth. Like many others in the music industry, my journey has been filled with both highs and lows, each contributing to my growth and resilience.
One of the earliest challenges I faced was growing up in the Bronx, an environment that, while rich in culture and inspiration, also presented its own set of difficulties. Navigating through a neighborhood with limited resources and opportunities required a great deal of determination and perseverance. However, it was this very environment that fueled my passion for music and gave me the drive to pursue my dreams.
As I embarked on my musical career, I encountered numerous obstacles. Breaking into the industry was no easy feat. There were countless auditions, rejections, and moments of self-doubt. The competitive nature of the music world meant that I had to constantly prove myself and stand out among many talented individuals.
Relocating to Europe, specifically Sweden, brought its own set of challenges. Adapting to a new culture, learning a new language which I am still struggling with, and building a network from scratch were daunting tasks. There were times when I felt isolated and questioned my decision to move so far from home. However, these experiences also taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability.
Financial instability was another significant hurdle. There were periods when making ends meet was a struggle, and I had to take on various odd jobs to support my musical aspirations. Balancing these jobs with my passion for music required careful time management and unwavering commitment.
Despite these struggles, each challenge I faced became a stepping stone towards my success. The rejections taught me to refine my craft, the financial hardships instilled in me a sense of resourcefulness, and the cultural adjustments broadened my perspective and enriched my music.
In retrospect, the road may have been rocky, but it was these very struggles that shaped me into the artist I am today. They taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance, resilience, and the importance of staying true to one’s passion. I am grateful for every challenge, as they have made the successes all the more meaningful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I appreciate your interest in my work. I am primarily a lyricist and songwriter, but I also engage in production work. My career in music has allowed me to wear multiple hats, and each role has contributed to my growth as an artist.
As a lyricist, I specialize in crafting compelling and emotive lyrics that resonate with listeners. My goal is to tell stories through my words, capturing the essence of human experiences and emotions. Whether it’s a heartfelt ballad or an upbeat anthem, I strive to create lyrics that are both meaningful and relatable. I enjoy experimenting with different genres and styles, which allows me to keep my work fresh and innovative.
My production work involves overseeing the recording process, arranging music, and ensuring that the final product aligns with the artistic vision. This aspect of my work requires a keen ear for detail and a deep understanding of musical elements. I take pride in my ability to bring a song to life, from its initial concept to the finished track.
One of the things I am most proud of is the diversity of my portfolio. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of artists and genres, each project adding a new dimension to my skills and experiences. This versatility is something that sets me apart from others in the industry.
What truly distinguishes my work is my dedication to authenticity and emotional depth. I believe that music has the power to connect people on a profound level, and I strive to create songs that evoke genuine emotions. My ability to blend lyrical storytelling with melodic composition allows me to produce music that is both impactful and memorable.
Another aspect that sets me apart is my collaborative approach. I value the input and creativity of others, and I enjoy working closely with artists, producers, and other songwriters to create something truly special. This collaborative spirit has led to some of my most rewarding and successful projects.
In summary, my work is driven by a passion for storytelling and a commitment to authenticity. I am proud of the diverse body of work I have created and the emotional connections my music has fostered. What sets me apart is my ability to blend lyrical depth with musical innovation, creating songs that resonate with listeners on a deep and personal level, as well as make you dance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck, both good and bad, has played a significant role in my life and career. While hard work, talent, and perseverance are crucial, I believe that luck has also influenced my journey in various ways.
Good luck has often manifested as unexpected opportunities that have propelled my career forward. For instance, there have been moments when I was in the right place at the right time, leading to collaborations with influential artists and producers. These serendipitous encounters have opened doors that I might not have been able to access otherwise. One such instance was meeting Merlin The Wizard, a renowned producer at a local event, which eventually led to a fruitful collaboration and a breakthrough projects. Another example of good luck was receiving recognition for my work at a time when I needed it the most.
However, luck hasn’t always been on my side. There have been instances of bad luck that posed significant challenges. For example, there were times when promising projects fell through due to unforeseen circumstances, such as changes in the industry or personal issues. These setbacks were disheartening and required me to adapt and find new paths forward.
Financial instability was another area where bad luck played a role. There were periods when unexpected expenses or economic downturns made it difficult to sustain my career. These financial challenges forced me to be resourceful and find alternative ways to support my passion for music.
Despite these instances of bad luck, I have learned to view them as opportunities for growth and resilience. Each setback taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of staying true to my vision. In many ways, these challenges have made the successes all the more meaningful.
Ultimately, I believe that luck, whether good or bad, is an integral part of any journey. It has shaped my path in ways I couldn’t have predicted and has contributed to the person and artist I am today.
