Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Boyce
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. I’ve had setbacks aplenty, The mental. The psychical. The financial. Life does get a little bit harder as a self employed person especially in a small country.
Some of my biggest struggles were the results of funding or lack thereof.
Communication and understanding from one creative to another was another struggle as I learned to navigate and educate myself on the very thin lines between friendships and being a business owner. This was my hardest lesson but one I’m glad I’m learned very early. It’s made me stern in how I address and approach a great deal of scenarios and opportunities.
But I’d say my biggest struggle or what used to be was resources. I’m very stubborn sometimes in my execution process and trying to source materials to match the vision in my head often forces me to postpone projects until I get exactly that. As a result I don’t post often(which is kinda something I’ve been trying to work on) as I will stubbornly wait months just to get that one piece to put the whole idea together.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At present, I look at my art and work as my sole investiture. Each client my own unique Magnum Opus.
The sole purpose of NECXUS is to reinvent and rebirth yourself using fashion as a medium over a period of transitions.
I’m mostly known for my work with Barbadian songwriter, lyricist and singer Leigh Phillips and of course that would mean working with them is the work I’m the most proud of. She is an absolutely amazing energy to work with and it’s always a joy sitting with them and going over the plans we have or want to set into motion.
As for sets me apart? I believe that would vary from client to client. For some it might be my process leading up to your transformation. For others it may be the energy I bring with me on set whilst working.
So I with a great deal of confidence I can say what sets me apart from with all that in mind is…me. My drive, love and dedication into making sure that each client not only gets to experience a new self but how I get to see hands on the joy that comes with that revelation.
It’s always a good feeling.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
There are quite a few. On the top of that list for me is the expression “standing on business.”
Learning to hold yourself to your own word does a lot in this industry.
I’d also say learning to respect the time of others, decorum, community and communication are also up there indefinitely and all go hand in hand.
And above all: educate yourself! Don’t be in a room and caught lacking! You of course can’t know everything or know everyone but please always do some homework in your respective field so you’re not caught lacking in the midst of a conversation.
