Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexsey Lanzotti
Hi Lexsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Lexsey Lanzotti, but I’m probably better known by my nickname, Zotti. As a kid I discovered that I mostly think and process information in pictures. Growing up, that realization opened up exciting opportunities for me to develop and refine that into a skill. And now, in my work as a photographer I get to use that skill to celebrate others, and I feel really lucky for it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think things got easier once I realized that running a business is more about resilience and discipline than talent. Failing is just a critical part of the process. I’ve had countless terrible website builds, cringy moments, and even times where I’ve taken on other work just to make ends meet. But consistency and a willingness to learn definitely carried me through those times. I still feel like I’m learning and adjusting every day, but I have a solid foundation now which makes all the difference.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My specialty is wedding photography and I’m the most proud of my client experience. My entire business model is about providing as much value to couples as possible, even if they don’t book me. I don’t only rely on inspiration for my work, I rely on integrity. How can I give people an incredible experience? For me that looks like building a photo timeline with them on the consult call, not waiting to be booked before I give value. It looks like delivering their full gallery in 14 days, when my competition average is 90 days, etc., etc. Being a good artist is easy – being a good business owner takes discipline.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I move really slowly as a person – it’s my superpower and my detriment. Sometimes I have to tell myself that “done is better than perfect” just so I can move on from something and keep momentum going.
