Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristianna Mrjenovich
Hi Kristianna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2020 after a decade of domestic abuse, I broke free and started my life completely over with my two young boys. I knew that I did not want them to be raised with abuse as their example of love and I needed to break that cycle.
I got an income controlled apartment for myself and my kids, furnished the apartment, and started over. I was only making $285 a week at the time but I knew it needed to happen and I’d do whatever I needed to in order to make a better life for my kids.
Over the next 4 years, I got married to a healthy and loving man, I moved up and became President and co-owner of the company I worked for, gave birth to a baby girl, built a new house, started a new business with my husband, and became a pageant queen.
I am currently International Mrs Gulf Coast 2024 and will have a new title with International Ms for 2025. My platform is all about second chances.
I started and host a women’s empowerment podcast, where I share my story and provide a platform for other women to share their stories of second chances, in an effort to inspire other women to leave domestic abuse. I became a member of the Florida Partnership to End Domestic Violence. I founded my “Confidence Crown” workshops aimed at building confidence in girls and women in an effort to prevent domestic abuse. I give my workshops to local Girl Scout troops. I also became an ambassador with the mental health initiative Still She Rose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Leaving domestic abuse is never a smooth road. There were some times where I wasn’t sure how I would make ends meet. There were times where I struggled emotionally. Fortunately the universe always aligned and I was able to make it happen for my kids and I was able to clear my head and get in the right mindset.
I have found that when you do finally leave and give yourself a second chance and when you’re on the journey that the universe has planned for you, it can feel like all of the stars align and things “fall into place.” That’s how I can always tell when I’m following the right path for myself. There is less resistance.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do own two companies, a Condo Management Firm where I am President and Co-owner, and a Leatherwork and Hand Embroidery company with my husband. He is an artist as well and we combined our passions into an Etsy Shop and online store.
My podcast and creative endeavors are where I am focused currently.
The Second Chance Queen Podcast is where I share my story of overcoming abuse, interview successful women about their second chances, and host segments discussing healthy relationships with my husband.
What sets my podcast apart from others is the collective of strong, empowered women sharing their stories and the focus on healthy relationships and qualities. My podcast combines elements of interviews with self help tips and is a very well rounded podcast.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
What is meant for you will always find you. If a door closes is it always a good thing and if you hit repeated resistance, the universe is warning you that you’re in the wrong direction. Sometimes we don’t understand why in the moment, but there is a reason that hindsight is always 20/20.
