Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirstan Bilderback

Hi Kirstan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for art. There was a time when I let it slip away, focusing on typical teenager things and then on to adulthood before I even realized. It wasn’t until 2020 that I allowed myself dive back in; It’s been over four years of painting, trying new things and finding my style, and I’ll never stop being grateful for that little nudge to create.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

No, but, in my experience, anything worth doing/having comes with challenges. I used to get frustrated when a painting or an event didn’t work out how I’d wanted it to. These days, I recognize every bump in the road as an opportunity for growth and change. Sometimes an event (or painting) may not go well due to reasons outside of my control. In those instances, I remind myself of all the things that DID work out for me. In the cases where it was in my control, I make sure to take the time to reflect on what worked, what didn’t and what I can do differently next time. To me, being able to pivot and take change in stride is the best way to make it through the struggles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I’m an intuitive artist, specializing in creepy-cute and astrology-themed art! My artwork often features ghosts, bats, and horror-related imagery. I also love to play around with combining Halloween with astrology! As an intuitive artist, I usually go into a painting without a layout or sketch of what I’m going to do. I have a general idea and I just go with the flow of the paintbrush from there. A lot of the pieces I’ve painted have come from mental images prompted by a song or a movie, which is one of my favorite ways to create. My best work comes out when I allow it to flow naturally
