Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayrajay

Hi KAYRAJAY, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?

My name is Kayra J. Clouden, also known as KAYRAJAY, and I’m an Artist from St. Croix, U.S Virgin Islands.

Since graduating from the University of New Haven with a B.A. in Digital Media and B.S. in T.V/Video Production, I’ve curated a unique career between the entertainment realms of television and digital media.

Some of my career highlights include my role as Development Producer at Antoinette Media, Associate Producer across Paramount Global’s hit franchise show Love and Hip-Hop, VH1’s Family Reunion, VH1’s Couple’s Retreat and more in addition to being the former Development Assistant at MTV/VH1, & former Associate Producer at Jezebel (G/O Media).

Independently, I created and executive produced the award-winning digital series ADULTIN’ on YouTube and I’m curating the budding non-profit: 4 DA BM’S – A Safe Space to be a Baby Mama in Peace.

Outside of producing television, I enjoy pursuing a slew of other of creative ventures including music, art, modeling, public speaking, acting, photography, DJ-ing, traveling around the world and being a mommy to my son, Koa.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

This time of life has been the most tumultuous moment of my journey so far. One of my major struggles has been adjusting to motherhood while finding ways to take care of myself – emotionally, mentally, financially, physically & spiritually.

As if basic survival weren’t enough, I’m also dealing with a sort of existential identity rebirth as I become a new version of myself.

It’s beyond challenging finding the space to breathe sometimes. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the film ‘Waiting to Exhale’ and that’s exactly the energy I find myself in times.

Waiting.

Waiting to for me time.
Waiting to be partnered.
Waiting to be financially stable.
Waiting for life to feel normal again after a traumatic pregnancy and postpartum experience and realizing that things are constantly changing no matter what – so what even is normal??

Following your dreams can be difficult to navigate and it’s certainly not an easy road in this economic climate.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I am an artist. My purpose is to ideate and visualize unique and compelling ideas and ultimately bring them to across various mediums. I mostly specialize mostly in development and production of TV / Digital Media and have been branching into digital marketing.

I’m most proud of my emerging non-profit, 4 DA BMs, which intends to create a safe space to be a baby mama in peace. My content is provocative in a way that inspires people to think outside the box while promoting authenticity & positivity.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?

My village is super important to me! My mom is such a big help as she lets me stay in her home and helps me with my son while I pursue my dreams.

My friends and family are a constant energy boost and I love them dearly as they often support my work and pour into me.

All of my former bosses & co-workers have taught me everything I need to know about this industry and how to refine my skills.
