Today we’d like to introduce you to Katey Hicks

Hi Katey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

My name is Katey Hicks and I am a content creator and the owner of KT Social Media + Marketing. My journey is still relatively new. In March of 2022, I signed on with my first Social Media client. From there, I turned a freelance side hobby, into a state registered business that will one year old in March of 2025. KT Social Media + Marketing works with small businesses and helps them with their online presence. I am the sole employee and help with social media platforms, website design, graphic design, email marketing, influencer marketing, and more. On the side, I do UGC Content Creator and am very active on almost social media platforms (lets connect – @kateymhicks)

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

I am a firm believer that struggles are an important part of life. They are the examples I need to learn and grow from. My journey has not been straightforward. In fact, my business started when I was at a low point in my life. I was fired from a job that I loved and left without pay right before my son’s first Christmas. It took a few months of applying to every marketing job I could before realizing that I had everything I needed to turn a freelance gig into a self-employed job. With eight months under my belt, it’s still a learning process.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Lately, I have been leaning heavily into my content creation. I work with a few different UGC agencies that helps pair me with brands who are looking for User Generated Content (UGC). Most of my collaborations have come from these groups. I am also a creator with LTK, Amazon, TikTok Shop, ShopMy, Etsy, Kohls, and more. In only a year, I have grown my accounts, with my biggest growth on Instagram where I just hit 3k followers! My content features mainly fashion, beauty, and haircare. I specialize in voiceover style videos that showcase products by telling a story. I am authentic in my content and will not promote something that I do not truly love. My followers love this about me!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

I’ve always been that person who cared what people said about me. Taking a chance at content creation and posting what could be classified as “cringey” on the internet is something i’m still battling. My advice is to do it anyways. While I still feel awkward posting my videos, i’m able to tell myself to suck it up and post it anyways!
