Today we’d like to introduce you to Juanita Mcclain
Hi Juanita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey to success began at a time where nothing in my world made sense. Writing my troubles back then was a coping method through the ails of life and sickness. But my writing journey opened many doors for me. It sparked the motivation and determination I needed to become a successful Author, Educator and Advocate.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have faced many obstacles and challenges throughout my journey. The biggest obstacle was remaining humbled and continuing on without strong support.
A huge challenge for me was returning back to the journey of success each time Sickle Cell disease set me back during an unexpected crisis because not only did I lose time, I would also lose hope. But each time I was blessed to find my way back.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a writer, educator and public speaker who specializes in educating others through these outlets.
I am most known for my roll as president and CEO of the Sickle Cell warriors of Buffalo and my advocacy for the Sickle Cell community. I am extremely proud of the person I have become and the support that I have provided throughout the years to our underserved Sickle Cell community. What sets me apart from others is my willingness to share my strengths and struggles.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
When I was growing up, I was a very happy and outgoing child but i faced many health challenges. At the age of 8 I had already feel inlove with writing stories. I won an award in 2nd grade as a self-published author. I had always had a keen interest in being a writer.
