Today we’d like to introduce you to Jourdan Truth Mcgowan

Hi Jourdan Truth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

I began my art career driven by sheer curiosity and a deep desire to bring my childhood creative thoughts to life. Encouraged by my college art professor, who believed I had the potential to be an artist, I pursued this path with determination. After graduating, I launched my art business. Although I didn’t make much money initially, and my work has evolved significantly since then, the inspiration and passion have always been present.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

As a working artist, I’ve faced several challenges. There are times when art sales are slow, making it difficult to make ends meet. Staying inspired can also be tough, especially when creativity feels elusive. Additionally, there are moments when I feel my work isn’t receiving the appreciation it deserves. These are just a few of the struggles I’ve encountered. Art is life, and life is a struggle. You have to take the good with the bad and appreciate all of the small wins.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I have painted just about everything the eye can see, from life-size wooden portraits to the tiniest insects. I specialize in painting portraits, but I am also known for my versatility in using wood and other materials to create unique custom pieces for my clients. I often paint portraits of loved ones who have passed away, and I take great pride in being the artist families turn to for commemorating their cherished memories.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?

In the next 5-10 years, I aspire to reach a wide audience with my art and establish my gallery, where I can showcase my work, feature other artists, and host events. My goal is to continue providing for my family while using my art to touch people’s lives in unique ways. I am committed to spreading love and creativity across the world, using the gifts I’ve been blessed with to inspire everyone.
