Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Ella Squicciarini

Hi Heather Ella, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

Thank you for allowing me to share my story. It all started when I was searching for a side business. I was working part time as a paraprofessional, and working from home as a small business bookkeeper while I was raising our 4 children.

Our family of 6 needed health benefits so I needed to get a full time job. I did land a job but it was an hour commute each way but I was just thankful to provide benefits for my family. It was this job that allowed me to study for all the certifications I was about to embark upon. Even though I had a full time job I had something inside of me telling me there is something more I should be doing. I was brought up in a family business my whole life, I had a degree in Business Administration. Surely there is something more I could be doing that has haunted me constantly.

Then, one day I was perusing the internet and stumbled upon crystal alchemy bowls and their beauty. I thought that’s it. I will learn to play these pretty bowls and maybe I can create something from that certification. It was an intense 3 month program but one of the best choices I have ever made was signing up with TSHA. It was this certification that opened me up to the other two modalities that I became certified in :The Akashic Records and becoming a Karuna Reiki Master. I would take the classes during my lunch hour at work and continue studying in the evening after work. All these modalities allowed me to start to heal parts of me I didn’t even know existed. It was through these dark areas within me where I stored, jealousy, resentment, anger, and unworthiness that I realized if these things existed within me surely it must exist in others. If I didn’t realize that is what was blocking my happiness and that I am in control of my thoughts, then others most likely were not aware as well. That is what inspired me to start my business Sunshine For The Soul, LLC . I felt like my heart was lighting up by releasing all those hidden memories and stuffed down feelings that I didn’t want to feel and I wanted to help others do the same.

I started out doing sound baths for my family for practice and then I ventured out and began renting yoga studios once a month where I do group sound baths and market them on Eventbrite. I have been learning to trust myself, something I didn’t do my whole life and I am constantly pivoting to follow the calls of my heart. One of those calls was to start a YouTube channel, and offer services over Zoom. My business is growing and now has been expanding by doing private events, Bachelorette parties, Ladies Nights and collaborating with other businesses. Since, my family business was landscaping and owning a florist it only makes sense that I now am incorporating the healing power of flower essences within all my events.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

It most definitely has not been a smooth road. If I could describe it I would say it has been a road of rolling hills, lots of ups and downs. Usually, when I am discouraged or about to give up the universe always sends me a sign, or a person to give me that little bit of encouragement to keep me moving forward towards my dreams.

A recent struggle I had was getting people to know about my business. I find that it is extremely important to market yourself whether it be through google, Instagram, Facebook or local listings . It is a struggle for a new business not bringing in a lot of income to spend money on marketing but I personally saw a difference by spending money on advertising. I also ask clients how they heard about my event. This helps me know where to focus my advertising and what works and what doesn’t.

I have been struggling with a lot of people not understanding the benefits of sound healing as it is not mainstream in my area. At all my sound bath’s at least 80 percent of the people attending have never been to a sound bath before. I am so grateful for their willingness for their self care but realize it is new to most people. I therefore, feel it is very important to educate and share with my community how beneficial sound healing, flower essences and Reiki is to your self care routine.

Another big struggle for me is technology. As I am in my 50’s and not as tech savvy as my children I find I need to constantly educate myself and stay up to date with the latest ways to reach your audience. I have hired people to help me understand how to work on my website and how to be able to go in and change a simple event or date. It is extremely important as business owners to be able to understand all parts of your business so you can help yourself and not always depend on spending large amounts of money to have someone do a simple change on your website. I have used instagram as a creative outlet but the struggle with growth as I don’t fully understand the algorithm . As a sound healer I want to be spending money on new instruments but I am trying to find a balance between all areas to help me grow, which will ultimately help me to help others.

Lastly, the biggest struggle I am dealing with right now is working a full time job from 8-4 Monday through Friday and trying to grow my passion into a thriving business. I absolutely love what I do and sharing all that I learn with others including my coworkers, so they can benefit as well. Some days are harder than others, If I have a tough day or week at the office. There are times where I wonder why I am doing this and I bring myself back to my why: to help others know they are worthy and enough just as they are !

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Thank you for allowing me to share my creative outlet with you. I am a Certified Sound Healer and Karuna Reiki Master. I am constantly pivoting my sessions as I grow and learn to trust and follow my heart. My Reiki sessions are one of the creative outlets for me. It is not the typical Reiki session, I add a touch of all the modalities that have helped me.

I offer Reiki in person here in NJ or over Zoom for anyone else. My sessions begin with a little chat to see how you are feeling, then I offer a flower test to see which essence we will use during your session and which crystals your chakras will benefit from. Then I will use my sound bowls to help ground you with a short guided meditation and followed by a hands on Reiki session. Each session is specifically tailored to the individual’s needs for that day.

Another one of my favorite offerings is my group sound baths here in person in New Jersey. As you enter the studio you will be sprayed with my Inner Peace essence, offered a piece of Dark Chocolate 72% cacao infused with Flower essences and asked to write your intention for the sound bath and place it in the jar near the alchemy bowls. Everything is provided for you with comfy mats, pillows, eye masks and blankets. You will be taken through a short guided meditation to ground you, followed by pure sound with my healing instruments including crystal alchemy bowls, gong, drums, and chimes. The session ends with your choice of choosing an Angel Card and/or picking the flowers you are most attracted to on my flower test. Then I will have samples of flower essences that will benefit you most that you can try and if you like you can purchase. It truly is a magical experience.

I also specialize in 1-1 sessions, private parties, bachelorette parties, birthdays or ladies nights. I am most proud of creating sessions tailored to the needs of my guests. My sessions are not one size fits all, it is all created intuitively. I love that I am trusting my heart and guidance from within and the sessions are constantly evolving. For those who understand Human Design I am a Manifesting Generator, someone who has many interests and uses that to create my sessions.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?

I see a huge shift in our society within the holistic wellness industry. I believe our educational systems will make mindfulness, meditation, Reiki and Sound Healing part of the curriculum. Helping our children deal with stress in a holistic healthy way rather than pushing medication .

I see professional development days for our educators including Meditation, Sound Healing, Reiki and mindfulness activities helping them to deal with the stress of their job.

The vision I see for the future of my industry is an explosion of mindfulness within our communities whereas, the modalities I have just described are readily available and plentiful in all communities awakening each other to the fact that how much we’re able to love others is directly related to how much we love ourselves.
