Today we’d like to introduce you to Erase-e
Hi Erase-e, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got started by being curious about hip hop culture. Once I started writing lyrics on paper, I knew it was passion and purpose. I got where I am today by being a student of the game first. I soaked up every element of hip hop and dove right in. But it was a natural process. I love to write and hip hop influenced me to have a voice.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The writing process has always been smooth. But early on, I needed funding to get the music out. And that eventually changed once my great friend Kev (The Kid Cool Breeze) formally known as “Kidnapp”, told some guys about my music.
I signed one deal and after that, I started my own label: Lethal Injection Entertainment. I released a small project and then started releasing albums. Was it a struggle? Well, I learned a lot and still am, along the way. I been funding everything myself. So sometimes I would have to wait for the check to clear. Ha!
I now do music with my bro, McLaren F1. And collab with Kontac on many of his projects.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a writer, emcee, artist, composer, arranger and director. I specialize in everything I just mentioned. I’m known for being a artist and I’m very proud of it.
The best I thing I’ve done is just be me. The orginal verison of myself.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes, I had a couple mentors in my life. Most of them were in a form of music. But yeah they taught me the ropes of recording. I just needed one for the business side. I also had strong men and women in and outside my family that gave me wisdom. Where I from, we call it GAME! Each one, teach one.
And I would say try to network as much as possible… if you can. And keep your eyes and ears open. Learn about the business. Your knowledge is your foundation.
I surrounded myself around the same people, that natural loved each other. So I had a one up. I never had to search for artist, producers, recording studios and graphic artist. I either knew them or somebody that did. This made my journey a cool one, but I still faced things that I had to deal with being a artist and executive. I know most of us wear many hats but as artist, you should really be just focusing on the ART. But at the same time, it’s best to bet on yourself and get in motion.
