Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Paschall
Hi Elizabeth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Like many hairstylists, I knew from a young age that I wanted to work in the beauty industry, especially in movies. From the outside, my life may seem glamorous, fun, and exciting. I get to play dress-up, work on human Barbie doll heads travel the world, and get paid for it. But what a lot of people don’t know is how much work I have put in to get to where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Breaking into the movie and TV industry was challenging, and meeting the qualifications for IATSE 798, the union for hair and makeup artists, were even tougher. Becoming a mother early in life was unexpected, and I felt like I was taking a step back in my career. I had to pause and focus on raising my daughter, all while navigating a toxic marriage and divorce. During this time, I juggled two jobs: part-time cosmetology instructor and hairstylist.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Beyond my work, I’m deeply passionate about mentorship. As a public speaker and motivator, I mentor students and regularly share beauty tips on The Morning Show Coast Live on CBS. But what many don’t see is the blood, sweat, and tears it took to get where I am. My journey is about more than just the glamour—it’s about inspiring and guiding the next generation of artists.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
When I picked up Kevin Aucoin’s second book Making Faces. I realized at that moment how much power Hair and makeup up has the ability to transform one’s appearance.
