Today we’d like to introduce you to Devyn Giovengo
Hi Devyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started working within business when I was just in middle school, I would buy and resell sneakers, and I started customizing and repairing sneakers as well. I would buy sneakers from thrift stores, Facebook, marketplace, sneaker, conventions, and more.
From there, at the end of middle school, I started working on my first clothing, line project, “Zeal”. I had a few different designs and offered my designs and services by personalizing products for my consumers. Putting their names on my designs and more.
When I got to high school, I slowed down on the sneakers and stopped “Zeal” as a whole. I then started reselling designer streetwear brands like Supreme, Bape, Off—White, etc. This is when I got into creating my own clothing with my business partner and lifelong friend Mikel “Kelfromvisions” Battles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to success is never smooth, I think the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with is losing friends for my business(es). With that being said, I’m definitely not complaining, sometimes you outgrow people or they are not bringing the energy and effort you need in your life at that giving time.
If those friends are around you and are only subtracting and not adding then it’s safe to say it’s time for some new friends. Day 1 doesn’t always mean they’re A1.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The work that I specialize in is digital design. This is graphic design, videography, photography, and fashion design. I would say the work on most known for his split between videography and fashion design. But I also feel like graphic design and photography are both close as well.
The projects I’m most proud of this far is probably the “Seal” video by artist $hake from Wilmington, NC. I’m also very proud of a few Visions Attire pieces of course.
As of recently i’ve been a silent designer for various brands across the United States of America and I absolutely love some of the designs I’ve been putting out for them too.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by being happy with yourself, and also being financially free and putting your family in a better position. My goal is to create success and opportunities for all the people around me and everybody I care about. I think everybody on earth has a purpose, and is here for a reason, I hope to help my people find their reason or in other words, find their “why”.
