Today we’d like to introduce you to Denzel Kazeze.
Hi Denzel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello everyone I hope you all are having a wonderful Valentines weekend, and are cherishing these lovely moments with the ones you love. I would love to give a little background from who I am as an individual and also where I grew up within all of it as well.
My name is and will forever be as long as I don’t change it ha, Denzel Charles Kazeze. Now my name represents a lot, and I didn’t know it at first. My first name Denzel was chosen by both my mother and my father whom is from the East Africa area to be exact Tanzania 🇹🇿. He and my mother chose Denzel as my first name because they loved the actor Denzel so much, and whom would have known I would grow up to do that same exact thing.
My middle name which is Charles came from my fathers dad and his name is Charles that’s how they do it in Tanzania and in East Africa in general and within most of the African region, the sons and daughters get their middle names from either the parents dad or the mother of their parent. I also have my fathers last name which is Kazeze and we have a huge family across East Africa there are many Kazeze’s out that way. You might find some others if you even google the name Kazeze, and you will also see me pop up how cool is that :).
That is a big part of who I am, and what I aim for as well within this lifetime. Having family not only in the USA of American descent but also family within East Africa I always had certain expectations of to stay focused and also driven, and to always look out as well for my lovely family, siblings, mothers, and grandparents all of them.
So this made me into the man that I am and I will continue to share more and more as we dive deeper into the beginning of my life into what it looks like now, and what I picture it to fully be when I am a little older. :)
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting off I would say things were a little tough but I made it through I would say. Growing up my parents had cultural differences of course and that’s always something within itself but even with this cultural difference my mother and my father made sure to let me see both sides of whom I am. American and foreign. They put aside their differences to make me a responsible young man and also to be a responsible big brother to the rest of my younger siblings.
My younger brother who is only a year under me has cerabal palsy and he also has a tad bit of spastic seizure disorder. He by himself made me not only a provider and a protector naturally but he made me strong and he made me resistant to any negativity out in this world.
I never had the time to even think about getting off track due to him and his way of living which was very very hard for him, me and my family went through so many surgeries for him and he each time kept getting sicker and sicker until one point of when we all decided it was best for him to not do any more surgeries. Since his bones were crooked not only in his back from scoliosis but also within his hands and his feet and toes were curved as well, he lost the ability to walk and he was really never able to walk fully ever in his life, but when he was younger the schools tried helping him and he was trying so hard.
But he got sicker and sicker and we did not want to put him through any more stress, my brother underwent many surgeries and I mean more than 12-15 of them during his lifespan and he is only 19 years old. I put myself in his shoes so many times and it made me not take life for granted. That’s why I told myself I’m so young and there is a lot of more time for a 20 year old, but I chose to start on my career early and finish academics early because you never know what life may throw at you.
I try to cherish every single moment that I live hear on earth because of him. I look at my brother and his name is Joel Kazeze as strong, and as a fighter as well. If you look up Joel Kazeze you’ll see him on the Chicago billboards as he represents the home of Mismecordia heart of mercy in Chicago Illinois.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So to be specific now as a 20 year old I go by as an actor/ entertainer. I have plenty of musical theater experience that spans over years and years since actually high school, I have on screen television experience , as well as dancing experience as well. Some things I learned naturally at home like dancing, and others talents took a little bit of more time learning for me so I needed teaching of the subject.
Now I am focused mainly on acting. This year I have amazing work that I am waiting for the world to see. I feel majorly blessed and I thank god for this opportunity. Last year in 2024 I focused mainly on doing side roles within big films that are gonna come out this year, and also television shows as well. I played as a drug operator within the show Chicago PD, season 12 episode 7, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I also am apart of a film that is due to come out soon called Fatal Photo, and I played a male nurse within this crazy movie that you all will enjoy seeing as well.
I chose to humble myself and work around and gain more experience and I knew doing this way would not only let me get in quicker, but it also would let me make connections, and I knew the talent I had and I also new what I brought to the table.
I never try to toot my own horn within speaking of my talents but when I tell you I have taken the time to not only learn acting, but I studied it and I believe you can learn even more within it so I try not to say things as if I’ve mastered acting haha. But I do indeed acknowledge the fact that I come onscreen and I have my own different type of acting, I am my own person and no one is able to compare me to many others that act.
I had a great teacher whom I invested into and he invested right back into me. His name was Kristopher Murdock and he taught me how to not only act, but to bring my own personality into each character. It’s not about just reading lines when acting and it’s not only just about portraying emotions, sure lots of people hire actors that do just that, but in order to stand out like a person like Denzel Washington or even people like Tom cruise, you have to study yourself within the acting as well.
I have been chosen to take part as a lead in films that will be shot in 2025 and I am beyond grateful for it. I like to believe that I was finally chosen for these major roles is because I showed them who I am within the acting and the way I can make a character pop within the movie or television show as well.
What makes you happy?
What makes me truly happy you ask well honestly many things do like spending time with people that I cherish because I never know when our last may be, another thing that brings me joy I would say is doing this work. It takes studying of characters sure, you need to develop the character on your off time sure, but it brings me joy a whole lot of joy actually.
This is simply because I am doing something that I love dearly and this is what has been in store for me I believe. I also believe anyone who may talk to me or even ask me about what and how I made this happen, and also may ask for tips in regarding to what they would like to do with their lives, I would simply tell them to not only believe in themselves and chase after whatever they want in life, but to also not be afraid at all of what the world has to say.
I see uniqueness within each individual that I run across and if I see you putting in hard work, dedication, and making an effort for a particular thing not only and I proud of you, but I would like you to protect what that is you have now in the palm of your hands.
