Today we’d like to introduce you to Chessine Nugent
Hi Chessine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My Travel Business was born amid a global crisis in January 2020, just two months before the world was brought to a standstill by COVID-19. I
I believe in making lemonade out of lemons. So, over the next two and half years, I took the time to learn everything about the travel industry, from business development managers and cruise and tour companies to back-office support managers.
With all the post-COVID craziness, Presently, in the US, there are higher living costs, labor shortages, higher work-from-home requests, and an increased need for family and wellness time. The YLOO ( You Live Only Once ) movement of 2023 is here to stay. Disney, Hawaii, Alaska, European river and ocean cruises, and Las Vegas getaways will always be popular. However, I have seen an increase in extensive journeys to far-flung places like New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, and Japan. Along with epic self-drive Iceland to small ships, Galapagos journeys and private villa vacations have become popular with travelers looking to treat themselves.
After COVID, I believe in supporting small sustainable businesses; it creates a different way to travel besides giving back to the visited destinations. I also enjoy helping people with new experiences, whether it is visiting the iconic sites of Peru, a romantic wedding in Fiji, a safari in Kenya, fishing in Patagonia, renting a villa with family or friends, or tasting olives straight from the tree in Tuscany. The need to create new memories never stops, and the value it gives to one’s life is endless. This is my passion and a way to meet the needs of my clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every new business encounters challenges, like tackling social media marketing and attracting new clients. Most new travel businesses start with referrals or bookings through family or colleagues. Hawaii is one of four states, along with California, Florida, and Washington, that require Travel Advisors to have special State Licenses, Trustee Bank Accounts, and E and O insurance, along with establishing payment processes that any form of cash can not exchange hands
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
