Today we’d like to introduce you to Aquerrah Cannon
Hi Aquerrah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got my start in the beauty community at 14. At the time I was a true Novice, just “green” for lack of a better word. Even in the earlier stages of my career with all the imperfections, I knew I was an Artist.
Before I knew it, I’d perfected my craft and built an amazing community of supporters and fellow Artists and Cultivators (still growing). I got this far by Faith,Creativity and a sprinkle of Finesse!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has been about as smooth as a dirt road in ‘Bama”. I think the most significant thing that I’ve been learning as of lately is that your struggles are meant to Mold and Move you. None of the struggles that I’ve gone through have been in vain.
Being in Beauty Business certainly doesn’t come without it’s flaws. There’s the worry of being in an over saturated market, that includes all aspects (content creation, servicing, pricing). In order to keep growing those things can’t live too long in one’s mind. It has to truly be Mind over Matter.
KEEP GOING!!!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Beauty Cultivator and Content Creator. My chosen mediums include Makeup Artistry (MUA), Multimedia Creation, And as of recently hairstyling and influencing.
I think what sets me apart is my creativity and uniqueness. I truly move to the beat of my own drum. Being able to visualize something with clarity is amazing on its own, but to be able to execute it from start to finish is a different feeling.
I’ve been able to do this for almost 4 years as the owner of K.B.K Artistry . I’m so proud to have grossed over $20,000 servicing nearly 500 people, 37% of which are Repeat Clients and Growing.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The biggest lesson that the Covid-19 Crisis taught me is to SAVE! I started my business in 2020, completely self funded.
That’s A Lot for one person to handle, I knew the risks and took a chance anyway. I didn’t truly start to see a profit until 21’/22’.
Most businesses usually fail within their first year. HOWEVER I didn’t fail, God gave (and continues to give) my business Grace, I gave him my consistency and use of my creativity in return. One of the most important traits one could possess in business is ENDURANCE!
