Today we’d like to introduce you to Anisa Zaman
Hi Anisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Anisa Zaman, formerly known as Elisheva Pierce. I am a visual artist that has been illustrating and painting since I was 5 years old. My parents saw my natural ability to replicate people’s facial features on paper, so they nourished this gift. Right now, I am an artist for a living who is currently travelling the world to learn about different cultures in order to gain some inspiration.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For me, art has been a smooth road with a little bumps here and there. Visual art has always come easy for me, however, it is a bit hard when it comes to getting professional opportunities in the art field. Being a woman and a minority opens the door for discrimination and sexism. But I don’t let that stop me. Consistency is very important, so I keep creating because I eat, sleep, and breathe art.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a painter, and an illustrator with a background in dance and music. So I am a live painter and artist, therefore, the visual art that I create goes with music. It’s very unique and moving. I am not just an artist, my artistic style blends with music, dance, and live atmospheres.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am an artist that enjoys travelling a lot to find inspiration. Right now I am currently exploring Pakistan and I would love to visit your cities to perform a live painting, paint a mural, see some inspiration, and to have an artistic experience!
