Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Johnson

Hi Angela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?

Born and raised in a polygamist cult, where personal freedom was a distant dream, life was a series of restrictions, expectations, and an arranged marriage and a future that felt more like a sentence than a celebration. I was raised to believe my path was predetermined, confined within the rigid walls of the church, where obedience was the highest virtue, and individuality was stifled.

But there was a spark inside me—a glimmer of hope that whispered there was more to life. With my husband Cade, who shared my hope for freedom, we made the hardest choice we’d ever faced. We left, leaving behind everything we knew to carve out a new life for ourselves. We had nothing, no safety net, no support. Just each other, our dreams, and our fierce determination to break the chains that had held us down for so long.

I decided to pursue my education, starting from scratch. Nursing called to me because it represented healing—not just for others, but for myself. With every course I completed and every late-night study session, I was reclaiming the autonomy that had been taken from me. After years of hard work, I earned my BSN and MSN, becoming a nurse, a healer, and a force for good.

In the midst of this, Cade followed his passion to become a Life-flight pilot, risking his life to save others. Together, we built a family—two incredible boys and a beautiful rainbow baby girl—our symbols of hope and new beginnings.

From this journey, Glimmers Clothing was born. It wasn’t just a business—it was a declaration of resilience and empowerment. Designing clothing became a way to express the beauty of freedom, joy, and the possibilities that bloom when you’re finally able to embrace who you are. The bamboo clothing we create is soft, natural, and sustainable, a reflection of the life we’ve built—one rooted in kindness, strength, and hope.

Glimmers represents everything we fought for: the belief that no matter how dark life may seem, there’s always a glimmer waiting to guide you toward your true self.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Definitely not. Building Glimmers Clothing was anything but smooth. We were juggling long shifts—me as a nurse, Cade as a Life-flight pilot—while raising three kids, is no small feat. But we have been determined. And learning a completely new industry has been super steep learning curve.
We knew nothing about fashion or running a company. There has been sleepless nights, financial stress, and moments of doubt, but through it all, we stayed determined.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, and what are you known for?

At Glimmers Clothing, we specialize in designing bamboo clothing that’s both comfortable and sustainable, with vibrant, unique prints that tell a story. Our brand is known for its soft, eco-friendly fabrics and whimsical designs, each one reflecting themes of hope, joy, and empowerment.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of the community we’ve built through Glimmers. It’s not just about clothing—it’s about creating pieces that resonate with people, that bring light into their lives. Seeing how our designs connect with customers and knowing that something we created brings them joy is incredibly rewarding. Being able to build community with moms and families has been such a joy.

What sets you apart from others?

Our journey sets us apart. Glimmers Clothing was built from the ground up after escaping a life that tried to limit us. Each piece we create reflects the resilience, strength, and freedom that define our story. We focus on sustainability, but more than that, we infuse every design with the hope and determination that got us here. That connection between our story and our products is what makes Glimmers truly unique.

How do you define success?

For me, success isn’t just about financial growth or accolades; it’s about impact and fulfillment. Success means creating something that reflects who I am and what I value—building a business like Glimmers Clothing that resonates with people, connects with their lives, and brings them joy. It’s about the balance between my family, my career, and the life we’ve built from nothing. When I can see that our work makes a difference, and I can raise my kids knowing we’ve created something meaningful, that’s true success. It’s not about perfection, but progress and purpose.
