Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Kim
Hi Ana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a full-time artist specializing in painting animals and nature. My journey began with studying art and design, which deepened my interest in creating art in my unique style. I discovered a passion for conveying messages through visual media and found joy in connecting with viewers and fellow artists through my work. This passion led me to pursue a full-time career as an artist. Today, I am expanding my media to create a wider variety of art, aiming to reach more viewers and collectors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. As a self-employed freelancer, I constantly have to seek out new opportunities. It can sometimes be a lonely path, as I am solely responsible for finding the way for my own business. Despite having a degree in Fine Arts, the process of art-making requires continuous development and study due to its many variations. Promoting my work has been the most challenging aspect of sustaining my career. However, with the many media platforms available today, I am working hard to keep up with the trends and utilize them effectively.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create a wide range of artworks, from traditional paintings to digital art products. I specialize in painting animals, focusing on themes of protecting their lives and emphasizing their importance to our shared ecosystem. I am known for my vivid color palette, blue outlines, distinctive brushstrokes, and the unique way I mix mediums on canvas. What sets me apart is my ability to communicate environmental issues through my art, encouraging viewers to reflect on these stories. I am most proud of using my work to raise awareness and provoke thought about the importance of protecting our planet and its inhabitants.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, I did. During the Covid-19 crisis, I watched a documentary featuring a zoologist analyzing the relationship between the pandemic and animals on Earth. The documentary explained that the virus spread due to animals losing their habitats because of human activities. Although I’m not an expert, I encourage anyone interested to research this topic further. This insight strengthened my resolve to continue creating art that conveys the message of protecting animals’ lives and habitats, as we all share this planet.
