Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Petty
Hi Veronica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I founded Domingo Comms in 2020 while living in Gowanus, where I was deeply inspired by the vibrant art community around me. Since then, Domingo has focused on providing tailored communication strategies for artists, galleries, art fairs, and organizations. My curatorial projects across New York City reflect a commitment to amplifying Latinx and Latin American artists. In addition to leading partnerships for New Visionary Magazine, handling PR for Affordable Art Fair, and managing various marketing campaigns for artists and galleries, I continue to drive Domingo Art Advisory’s mission of expanding artist visibility through exhibitions, planning, and media outreach.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had to take a step back just after a successful art fair presentation when I became pregnant with my daughter. At that point, I returned to my corporate day job, torn between the security it offered and leaving behind my passion for the arts. Life, however, kept pulling me back toward art, and over time, I found my way to feeling secure again—this time with my own business. But it took a lot of persistence and many moments of questioning whether it would all be worth it. The hustle can be draining, especially when you’re juggling motherhood and a freelance business.
Now, with a handful of steady clients, I can see a clearer path forward. I feel more confident that I can be consistent and finally give myself the time to scale and grow Domingo in ways I’ve never been able to before.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Domingo Comms?
I offer communication strategies and PR services and my specialty lies in working with emerging artists, as well as organizations and galleries that champion emerging talent—particularly Latinx artists. It’s deeply fulfilling to support artists whose work I believe in and with whom I can identify, seeing my own experiences reflected in theirs, while helping them gain the visibility they deserve.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Experiencing art and being immersed in culture, especially when I can share those moments with my family and close friends, brings me so much happiness. There’s nothing better to me than spending a day in Brooklyn, walking around, meeting interesting people, and enjoying coffee along the way.
