Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanner Schnur
Hi Tanner, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2018, I established Piney Hollow Wood Craft, initially crafting furniture such as bedroom sets, dining tables, barn doors, and epoxy river tables. That same year, I acquired my first CNC mill and spent two years designing a variety of products, yet without sales. In 2020, I shifted focus to creating European plaques for hunters to showcase their trophies, which began to sell online. For the next three years, I balanced furniture making with CNC operations. By the summer of 2023, I ceased furniture production entirely, opting to specialize in CNC milled products. This transition allowed me to fulfill orders and reach a broader audience than furniture ever did. Since then, I’ve been expanding my product line to include plaques for various game species like Whitetail, Elk, Bear, and Turkey, while also upgrading my machinery to boost production times and streamline plaque manufacturing processes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Throughout my journey, I have faced numerous challenges. I’ve had to self-teach various roles, often learning through difficult experiences. One may be knocked down repeatedly; the only choice is to rise again and learn from each experience, striving to improve every day.
As you know, we’re big fans of Piney Hollow Wood Craft. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Piney Hollow Wood Craft manufactures hardwood products, utilizing a combination of CNC mills and lasers. We provide a range of products for hunters to showcase their trophies. Our goal is to expand operations by incorporating a hydraulic sawmill and vacuum kiln, which will enable us to supply both our needs and the community’s with properly dried hardwood lumber, thereby creating trade jobs in Western Pennsylvania.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My fondest childhood memory is of trapping wildlife during the autumn season.
