Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Paredes
Hi Sebastian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Sebastian Paredes, a 22-year-old entrepreneur and founder of Interlix Staffing, where we are transforming the staffing and recruitment landscape by placing elite remote professionals and software developers from Latin America with companies across the United States.
My journey began in Cuenca, Ecuador, where, due to challenging economic conditions, my family made the life-changing decision to immigrate to New York when I was just 7 years old in 2009.
Growing up in Washington Heights, a vibrant yet tough neighborhood, I faced the challenges of adapting to a new culture while growing up in poverty. The adversity I encountered shaped my character and work ethic. Immersed in the rich Latino community, I discovered a passion for Spanish rap battles, and soon made a name for myself as a professional Spanish Rap Battler. This journey saw me travel across the U.S, competing in and winning numerous championships. My rap crew even earned sponsorship from Red Bull for major events.
This unexpected path opened doors, including an almost full-ride grant to Babson College, the #1 entrepreneurship school in the world. As a low-income student at Babson, I took full advantage of the school’s resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities. I experimented with several ventures, growing both personally and professionally, while honing my entrepreneurial mindset.
In my senior year, I launched Interlix Staffing, a venture that blends my love for business, my Latin American heritage, and my desire to create opportunities for others. Today, we’re helping U.S. businesses access top-tier talent from Latin America, while empowering professionals to thrive in global markets.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has never been smooth for me, not once. One of my biggest challenges was my family’s financial situation. We came to this country chasing the American Dream, leaving everything behind and starting from scratch.
Growing up, we barely had enough to get by. As an immigrant facing status challenges, I didn’t have the same opportunities that other kids had. I had to find my own way for everything. I was raised in an environment surrounded by drugs, crime, and wrong paths.
I had two choices: become part of the system or rise above it and become exceptional.
I earned scholarships for almost every activity I wanted to pursue, and I had to seek out resources in New York City to level the playing field both academically and financially. When I started my business, I had nothing—literally negative money. I didn’t take the typical startup route of raising capital; I bootstrapped Interlix with sweat, sacrifice, and persistence.
In the end, what didn’t break me made me stronger. After everything I’ve been through, I’ve come to truly understand the meaning of that quote.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Interlix Staffing, we are a staffing and recruitment firm that specializes in placing elite remote professionals and software developers from Latin America into U.S.-based companies.
What sets us apart is our commitment to quality and our deep understanding of both the Latin American and U.S. markets. These professionals are equipped with prior experience at esteemed multinational companies such as PWC, Ernst & Young, and Google. Leveraging the unique advantages of shared time zones, we bring a fresh perspective to talent acquisition, combining quality and cost-effectiveness. All of our candidates are fluent in English (C1 & C2 levels), and they go through a rigorous selection process, where we only choose the best of the best.
We provide remote talent in key areas like software development, marketing, sales, and even remote roles in the construction industry. What sets us apart is our speed—helping clients hire quickly without compromising the quality of candidates.
The cost-effectiveness of our model is remarkable, allowing businesses to secure highly skilled professionals at a significant savings of 40% compared to the rates that might be incurred for similar expertise within the United States. This distinctive unique model extends beyond traditional recruitment; it represents an access point to a highly skilled talent pool shaped by multinational corporations, now primed and available for remote collaboration at a fraction of the cost.
We primarily work with medium-sized companies, but whether you’re a startup looking to expand your team or a larger company in need of specialized talent, we have the expertise to deliver. Our focus is on long-term placements and full-time roles.
One of our largest industries is construction and real estate, where we place roles such as remote project coordinators, project managers, architects, and marketing & sales professionals.
For anyone reading this, if you’re looking for a trusted partner to help you find the right talent, whether for non-technical roles, software development, or specialized roles, Interlix Staffing is here to make that happen. We don’t just fill positions; we build long-term partnerships with both our clients and our talent.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Boston is the entrepreneurial community. It’s a city that fosters innovation, and the networking opportunities here are incredible. The calm atmosphere and quality of life make it a great place to live and grow professionally.
What I like least about Boston is the cold winters that can be pretty harsh. Also, coming from New York City, where public transportation is so accessible, I find it a bit inconvenient that you need a car to get around most of the time.
Pricing:
- $2500 – $3000 full time non-technical hire
- $6400 – $8000 full time software developers hire
