Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae Karim.
Hi Rae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started with Good Grief Now!™ after my mother passed in 2017. By that time, my father and grandparents had already passed. At the time there weren’t, to my knowledge, many spaces for people to grieve in community. For me grieving wasn’t just about sitting in a circle in tears. It was and still is about living life even in the midst of grief. As a result, I created it. I hosted a community gathering with food, a dj, activities and the opportunity to talk about grief.
A few years later, I came into the knowledge of a grief celebrant which led me up the information ladder to discover grief coaching. I received my certification and have been a certified grief coach for three years now, providing grief support through individual and group grief coaching, workshops, and community events.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think smooth is relative. There is no road without some kind of bump.
However, some of the challenges have been with consistency of client attendance to coaching sessions.
Another challenge for me has been marketing. I have products, workshop opportunities and more in the queue, but I just haven’t done well with marketing…yet.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Good Grief Now!™ started as a community gathering for people to explore grief. For a new idea, I think it went well.
Then I found out about grief coaching, which wasn’t even on my radar. Nevertheless, once I received my grief coaching certification, Good Grief Now!™ became a 501c3 and a full service grief support organization.
I believe what sets me apart is my approach to grief. While grief expression through our emotions is very important and necessary, we are also able to still live our lives. It’s not always easy, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Another way I am set apart is my experiences with grief. It makes me relatable. As well, I am easy going. Coaching with me is serious but not strict and stringent.
I am most proud of being having done grief work internationally and be a national organization, with clients across the country.
I would want reads to know Good Grief Now!™ is here to help you navigate the journey well by way of grief coaching, workshops, grief support training, and events.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love a good collaboration! It would be a matter of reaching out through email to have a conversation on how my services can benefit other organizations or companies.
What does support look like? Spreading the word about Good Grief Now!™.
People can work with me in a number of ways – I can facilitate grief coaching sessions, workshops and trainings for churches, schools, non-profit organizations, cohorts,
