Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynsey Kapera
Hi Lynsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started this business when I was about 26 or 27. I wasn’t sure what would come of it but knew I loved snapping photos and wanted to try and see where I could go with it. I let the camera take full control. I had not a clue even what I really enjoyed taking photos of more or what my niche would be. I left it up to higher power I guess. I started taking photos of everything – people, places, things. I started posting and chatting about the images in the descriptions. I knew that this hobby made me feel good and wanted to continue doing it so I did. I had a lot of people ask me to take their photos after a while and I would agree and do small jobs here and there . I then figured out goals. A goal to make photography my full time thing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. This road has no been smooth. It’s been rocky. There’s so much to learn. There is so much competition. There is so much energy being put into this business every single day. I wouldn’t have it any other way but I work hard to get where I am and to continue to be able to do what I do. You have to constantly give 110 percent . You have to be ontop of all your equipment & make sure wedding days run smoothly. You have to be able to know how to work with all kinds of different personalities, which sometimes can be a challenge , you also have to sacrifice a lot of time and a lot of your weekends.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a self taught photographer . I specialize in weddings, destination weddings, boudoir and couples boudoir. I am a more bold and warm style. When it comes to snapping sunset sessions on the lake ( which I am known for )… I consider myself a go to photographer for those. I do love day time sessions as well but my certain style is a little darker and mystical. I like someone to look at my image and go “ Wow. This shot should be in a spicy romance novel!” I do many destination weddings as well and I’m slowly getting more and more into those! Ive been to Mexico , Dominican Republic , Jamaica , Banff Canada , Vancouver Canada , Arizona & many more. My plan is to continue doing a handful of destination weddings a year and continue to make magic happen! It’s honestly crazy how big my little business got and I’m so so excited to see how far it still goes . It’s so hard to even call this a job and I consider myself so very lucky every day.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
This passion of mine has blossomed because I chose to listen to a little voice in my head that wouldn’t leave me alone. That little voice that kept me up at night. I know we all have it . Some choose to ignore it. Don’t ignore it .
