Hi Love Atiya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

It all started with a sex toy… just kidding it started with my hands.

Growing up in a household where conversations about sex weren’t taboo and being homeschooled, truly helped me see from a different lens when it came to pleasure, sex and intimacy.

In my home, my mom never made me feel ashamed for asking questions that pertained to pleasure and intimacy, she never made it seem like bodies should be stigmatized and she was always very transparent with me as a child.

This helped me develop a healthy relationship with self pleasure specifically and although exploring myself with a partner was definitely a different kind of journey, I didn’t “share my virginity” until I was 24.

A year or so after being very vocal online about my sexual experiences, I learned not everyone grew up in a sex positive household like me. Not everyone had the opportunity to have these kinds of conversations with their moms or guardians.

I started realizing there was so much misinformation that society had put out there when it came to sex and anatomy. Even I’d fallen victim to it and that’s when I knew in addition to being an animal rights activist, I had to fight for and become an activist for pleasure.

That’s when Ethereal X was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

The biggest struggle was trying to find guidance when it came to logistics. The sex tech community is truly very supportive, welcoming and helpful so navigating this space, once I made the right connections wasn’t a problem and I’m truly so grateful to be in this community.

When it comes to small businesses and handling logistics like EINS, LLC’s, Trademarks, Taxes & Accounting, that was truly one of the most exhausting and unmotivating parts of this entire launching process.

I’d called and asked so many different offices for answers and no one really ever had a clear answer when it came to anything and I’d constantly get redirected. I think more business mentors that offer pro bono consultations for small business owners who are just starting out would contribute greatly to the world.

Ethereal X is a luxury sexual wellness shop that focuses on self care, self pleasure, pleasure with a partner & self love.
