Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Petraglia
Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got to where I am today out of pure rage over being mistreated mixed with a delusional mindset that I could make something work that I had no experience in, and had never done before. I worked for local government in my early career life after graduating with a Bachelors in Health Promotion and Wellness Management.
After starting my career in public health I felt so grateful that I landed in government and had no plans or desire to ever leave, but life had other plans.
After about a year and a half into my job my supervisor had been promoted to a higher administrative role. Around the same time I had started seeing my, now wife, who worked in a different department down the hall. My supervisor was not aware of my sexual orientation, and began treating me much differently after she had caught wind of the information.
Long story short, after much mental and emotional abuse I left to save myself as my health had been declining over the years from this continued treatment, and knew if it continued I’d be hospitalized.
I took a break from work to heal and regain my health and after trying government one more time, I decided I needed to work for myself. That was the choice that kick started my journey as a Virtual Assistant, which I was then able to grow into an Online Business Manager over the years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was NOT smooth road. After months of research of online businesses, I had started a training (called The Start by Sara Wiles of The Start and Grow Co.) to become a Virtual Assistant while I was working for my second government job. I was working after work on the trainings trying to learn all of the information I could, as well as, working in the closet on my personal laptop on lunch breaks so that I could make this delusional dream a reality. Oh yeah, and this was all while planning my wedding that was happening while the training was still occurring!
After 3 weeks I began connecting with leads the program provided (this program and the lead matchmaking made all the difference). After about 4 weeks I had my first discovery call and signed my first client.
Here’s where it gets real delusional – after I signed this client and began work for them I put my two week notice in. I didn’t have the financial buffer to do so, but I just KNEW if I could sign one I could sign more, enough to replace my salary even, and that’s what I did. I kept connecting with every lead I could, took what felt like a thousand discovery calls, and after three months of my two week notice was making enough to replace my salary from my (first) government job.

LNProduction VA is an Online Business Management agency. We are team of 5 which consists of 2 Online Business Managers, myself included, and 3 Virtual Assistants who help streamline, strategize, and execute daunting backend tasks for burnt-out business owners so that they can have more free time, and drive to finally scale the results they have been waiting for.

It’s clear my clients feel taken care of with the consistent feedback I receive from them and I couldn’t be more grateful.
