I grew up in Castor Louisiana, a small town with less tham 1000 people. I had a big and supportive family but I also had many insecurities about myself. The rough part of my journey began in the military, where I faced not only the challenges of service but also the deep scars of trauma, including childhood and military sexual trauma. After my service, I found myself battling addiction and wrestling with the effects of PTSD. For years, I was stuck in a cycle of pain, fear, and insecurity, unsure how to break free.

It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I realized change had to start with me. I began to rebuild my life one step at a time, starting with confronting my own pain and seeking healing. I dove into personal development, studied emotional intelligence, and leaned into my faith to rediscover who I was meant to be. Along the way, I embraced my vulnerabilities, finding that sharing my story not only healed me but also inspired others.

Today, I stand as a Navy veteran, a best-selling author, and an emotional intelligence expert. My books, Stuck Between Pleasure and Pleasing God and Make Up Your Mindset, have empowered countless individuals to overcome their own obstacles. I now dedicate my life to speaking across the nation, helping teens, veterans, and anyone struggling with trauma and addiction find their way back to purpose and authenticity.

My journey is proof that no matter how dark things may seem, resilience and faith can light the way. And now, I use my voice to inspire others to embrace their struggles, knowing that their greatest challenges can lead to their greatest victories.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

It has not been a smooth road, not by any stretch. My journey has been marked by intense struggles, starting with the emotional weight of childhood trauma and the challenges I faced during my military service. Those experiences left me with deep scars, including PTSD and the aftermath of military sexual trauma.

After leaving the military, I faced the battle of addiction head on, spending over a decade grappling with the grips of substance abuse. There were moments when the road seemed impossible to navigate times when shame, fear, and self-doubt seemed overwhelming. I had to confront my pain, my insecurities, and a mindset that often felt trapped in survival mode.

Healing wasn’t linear. It involved countless setbacks, from losing relationships to struggling with self-identity. At one point, I didn’t see how my life could improve. But I refused to stay in that dark place. I sought professional help, leaned on my faith, and worked tirelessly to rebuild my life from the ground up.

It’s been a journey of resilience, and every step has taught me something invaluable. Those struggles weren’t just obstacles; they were opportunities for growth and transformation. Today, I look back on that rough road with gratitude because it shaped me into who I am—a woman who can speak to others about healing, perseverance, and the power of authenticity.
