Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara.
Hi Kiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with a deep passion for understanding human behavior and helping others heal. As a Latina woman, I grew up witnessing how mental health was often overlooked in my community, and I knew I wanted to change that. I pursued my degree in mental health counseling and eventually became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
Three years ago, I took a leap of faith and opened Knew You Psychotherapy (KYP) as a solo practice. Within seven months, I hit six figures for the first time, which allowed me to expand quickly into a group practice. I hired a team of therapists and built KYP into a multi-six-figure, cash-based business serving clients in New York and Florida.
But KYP was never just about building a business—it was about creating a safe space where people could break free from past pain, rewrite their narratives, and step into the lives they truly deserve. It was about giving people the tools to heal, not just as individuals, but as families, communities, and generations to come.
I remember a moment early in my career when a client broke down in tears, admitting that for the first time, they felt truly seen and heard. That moment stuck with me because I knew exactly what that felt like. Growing up, I struggled to find spaces where I could process my emotions freely. I had to learn, often the hard way, how to navigate my own emotional wounds, and that personal journey made me even more committed to ensuring that others didn’t have to do it alone.
As I continued to grow, I realized my impact could extend beyond therapy. I began speaking on larger stages, hosting workshops, and writing a book to help people heal, lead, and communicate more effectively. And now, I’m stepping even further into my role as a CEO, working to scale KYP to seven figures—not just for the sake of numbers, but to expand this mission in ways that truly matter.
Because the reality is, this work isn’t just mine—it’s ours.
If you’ve ever believed in the power of healing, if you’ve ever felt the weight of childhood wounds, generational cycles, or emotional struggles, if you’ve ever wished for more people to have access to the support they need—then you are already part of this journey.
Growing KYP to seven figures means more than financial success. It means hiring more therapists to serve those who are waiting for someone to understand them. It means offering more workshops, creating more resources, and making mental wellness something that isn’t just a privilege, but a right.
I invite you to walk this journey with me. Whether it’s by sharing this work, referring someone who needs support, joining a program, or even just spreading awareness about mental health, every small action makes a difference.
This isn’t just about me or KYP. This is about a movement. A shift in how we heal, how we grow, and how we show up for ourselves and each other. And I’m deeply grateful to have you be part of it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to building Knew You Psychotherapy (KYP) has been anything but smooth. Growth, especially in entrepreneurship and mental health work, comes with its fair share of challenges.
One of my biggest struggles early on was transitioning from being a therapist to becoming a business owner. In graduate school, we’re trained to be incredible clinicians, but no one teaches us how to run a business. Suddenly, I had to learn about marketing, finances, hiring, and leadership—all while still showing up fully for my clients. It was overwhelming, and at times, I doubted whether I was capable of building something bigger than myself.
Another challenge was breaking through limiting beliefs, both my own and those ingrained in the communities I serve. Coming from a background where mental health wasn’t openly discussed, I often felt the weight of stigma and I had to learn to push past fears of judgment and rejection to fully step into my purpose.
There were also financial struggles. In the beginning, I was afraid to charge my worth, even though I knew the value of my work. Transitioning to a cash-based practice felt risky, but I knew that in order to provide the best care without the limitations of insurance, I had to take that leap. I had to rewire my mindset around money, knowing that success in my business meant I could help even more people.
Through this process, I also had to learn how to set boundaries, prioritize self-care, and lean on my own support system so I wouldn’t burn out.
Despite all of this though, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every challenge has taught me resilience, deepened my purpose, and reinforced my belief that healing whether personal or professional—requires stepping outside of our comfort zones.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it has been worth it. And as I work toward scaling KYP to seven figures, I know there will be new challenges ahead. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that growth happens in the discomfort, and I’m ready for whatever comes next.
We’ve been impressed with Knew You Psychotherapy Mental Health Counseling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Knew You Psychotherapy (KYP) is more than just a therapy practice—it’s a movement toward deep healing, personal transformation, and breaking generational cycles. We specialize in helping individuals and couples heal from childhood trauma, improve their relationships, and reconnect with their true selves. Our approach is holistic, addressing the mind, body, and soul to create lasting change.
What sets us apart is our ability to blend evidence-based therapy with deep emotional work. Many of our clients come to us feeling stuck—repeating unhealthy patterns, struggling with self-worth, or feeling disconnected in their relationships. At KYP, we don’t just offer coping strategies; we guide our clients in uncovering the root of their pain, helping them rewrite their narratives and step into their power.
We are known for providing a warm, supportive space where people feel seen and understood. Our therapists are hand-selected for their expertise, but more importantly, for their ability to connect on a human level. We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and specialized group services, all designed to help people heal in a way that feels aligned and empowering.
Beyond therapy, we also provide mental health consultations for schools and organizations, equipping educators, leaders, and teams with the tools they need to create emotionally safe environments. Whether it’s through professional development, emotional intelligence training, or wellness workshops, we help institutions cultivate mental well-being from the inside out.
One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is how KYP has remained true to its mission. We have built a cash-based, multi-six-figure practice that prioritizes quality care over quantity, ensuring that every client receives the attention they deserve. We’ve also expanded beyond therapy—offering workshops, speaking engagements, and resources that help people heal and grow in every area of their lives.
As we work toward scaling to seven figures, our vision is bigger than ever. We want to reach more people, hire more incredible therapists, and continue to redefine what it means to heal. And we want our community to be part of this journey. Whether it’s through therapy, a workshop, a speaking event, mental health consultation, or simply spreading awareness about mental health, everyone has a role in making this movement bigger.
At KYP, we believe healing is possible, change is real, and everyone deserves a life that feels fulfilling and authentic.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I want readers to take away, it’s this: healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re struggling with childhood trauma, feeling disconnected in your relationship, or navigating stress and burnout, support is available. At Knew You Psychotherapy (KYP), we are committed to walking alongside you on your journey to self-discovery, growth, and emotional well-being.
But beyond personal healing, I also believe in the power of community because when we heal as individuals, we create a ripple effect that transforms families, relationships, workplaces, and entire generations. This work is bigger than just one person; it’s a movement toward breaking cycles and redefining what’s possible.
As we continue expanding our impact through therapy, workshops, mental health consultations for schools and organizations, and leadership development, we invite you to be part of this journey. Whether it’s by working with us, referring someone in need, booking a consultation, or simply sharing this mission, your support helps bring healing to more people who need it.
Thank you for being here, for believing in this work, and for taking steps, big or small, toward your own healing and growth. If you’re ready to start or continue your journey, we’d love to connect with you.
You are worthy of healing, love, and success. And your story is still being written.
