Today we’d like to introduce you to Katarina Nolfe.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.

Originally from Stockholm, Sweden I grew up in a large family surrounded by music and valuable life lessons that shaped my future. I took interest in singing in elementary school and since then, singing has been a regular part of my life. After traveling a lot in Europe by my mid 20’s, I made my first visit to New York and was immediately drawn to the energy of the melting pot! I knew right away NYC was the place I wanted to settle. It was there that I founded Voice Academy NYC – a dream I realized just a few years after settling in the city.

I think music and singing can soothe the soul and helps everyone connect more closely with their emotions. I believe that every person has a voice, is unique and has a story. That is at the heart of what I do – help each person find their true singing voice! Teaching others to sing became my calling once I discovered how my passion for music could be paired with helping others grow.

Alongside my works with students, I’m an accomplished singer, songwriter and performer. I collaborate with production companies, management firms and record labels, nurturing musical talent from youth to adult. I’m also excited to expand Voice Academy and starting a management/production company, where we will work with up and coming artists, songwriters and producers and the goal is to break them into the market.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

Meeting people that share the same passion without a hidden agenda that you can trust instead of wasting time with the wrong people. Life is full of surprises with its ups and downs. One of the biggest challenges has been staying focused on my goals and not getting sidetracked by others who may not share the same passion or vision. It’s crucial to stay true to yourself.

In the beginning, it was tough to deal with the uncertainty of income, but I knew that money was just a bonus. My true purpose lies in teaching – and I would have been miserable doing anything else. I love helping people reach their goals, meeting singers from around the world and boosting confidence in both children and adults. Another struggle has been being so far away from my family and childhood friends. That distance can be difficult but I’ve learned to stay connected and see them regularly in Sweden.

Voice Academy NYC is a dedicated singing school that caters to students of all ages and levels and styles. What sets us apart is our team of vocal coaches, all of whom are seasoned professionals in the industry, including award winning singers and performers with extensive experience in Broadway, recordings and various other musical endeavors. We specialize in helping students discover and refine their voices, teaching them to sing with ease and confidence. One of the unique opportunities we offer is a platform for our students to perform at the iconic Bitter End in NYC , providing real-world performance experience in a legendary venue. We are also helping our students with auditions, studio recording, and songwriting. Our lessons are available both in person and online, making it accessible for everyone, no matter where they are located.
