Hi Jean & Paula, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Passion and self-worth have been my guiding light throughout my journey. Growing up was filled with challenges, but returning home to the Philippines profoundly reshaped my perspective and aspirations. In 2023, the birth of Prolifik Patternz became a testament to our commitment to choosing ourselves and nurturing this vision into reality. While the path of starting a small business is filled with struggles, it also offers a powerful opportunity to connect with others. As Paula and I navigate our mental health journey together, we strive to raise awareness through our designs, using clothing as a medium to share our story and inspire a community rooted in understanding and support.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say the road has been smooth, but we’ve learned to embrace the challenges that come our way. Starting a clothing brand has tested us in ways we never expected. Staying positive and maintaining a healthy mindset can feel daunting, especially when we’re tasked with spreading positivity ourselves. At times, we grapple with our own mental health struggles, yet we remind ourselves to stay strong and focused on our mission. Together, we are working to break out of our shells, learning to be more open and free in expressing ourselves. Each step we take is a testament to our resilience and our commitment to making a difference.

We are not just a clothing brand, we are a movement rooted in passion and purpose. Our love for urban streetwear intertwines with our celebration of Filipino heritage, creating a unique tapestry that sets us apart. We proudly advocate for LGBTQ+ pride and mental health awareness, recognizing the importance of every individual’s story.
In addition to our distinctive designs, we cater to a diverse range of needs through B2B and B2C partnerships, offering custom t-shirt printing and personalized apparel. Whether it’s pre-designed shirts or tailored promotional items for businesses, we strive to bring our customers vision to life. Each piece we create carries a message of love, resilience, and connection. We take immense pride in our brand, knowing that together, we can inspire change and uplift one another, one garment at a time.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m excited to share that I’m taking steps to enhance my journey! Right now, we’re using some fantastic apps to keep our business organized and have just started listening to Start with Why by Simon Sinek. Although I’m still in the early stages, I can already feel the spark of inspiration. The positive reviews have filled me with hope, and I believe this book will help me dive deeper into the heart of our movement.
By understanding the “why” behind what we do, I’m confident we can engage more meaningfully with our followers. This insight will not only strengthen our connection but also attract even more followers who resonate with our mission.
