Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Redman
Hi Grace, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Grace Redman am a first generation Palestinian American. I have lived the majority of my life in San Mateo, California a beautiful city in between San Francisco and San Jose in the Bay Area. As the oldest of five I took on a lot of responsibility at a young age. When you are 10 the you dread the responsibility; however, as an adult looking back I am so grateful for the role that I held in the family. It taught me how to be independent, gritty, resilient, and self sufficient. It was grooming me to become a leader.
I am so grateful that my grandparents and parents immigrated to the united states. Their intention was to give us a better life and they worked very hard to do just that. The majority of my family are entrepreneurs. My great grandfather immigrated to NYC in 1901. He worked his way from NYC to San Francisco selling textiles. I am so grateful for the rode that he and the others in my family paved for me. A strong work ethic, being of service, and cultivating connected sincere relationships was something that was instilled in us from a very young age.
I always had a passion for learning and self-development. From the young age I began listening to Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Napoleon Hill and many other self development and success gurus. I loved talking about everything I learned with my friends and family and soon I become the go to person for advice and support.
Just like any other young person I experienced many challenges. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do or who I was. I had a crisis. I needed to really own myself worth and that took me on a journey of exploration. At the young age of 19 I sought out therapy to help me become like the people I read about in the books. I saw the same therapist for 25 years and when she retired a few years ago she had a confession to make. She told me that when she met me when I was 19 years old she believed that there was no hope for me. She apologized and hoped I wasn’t offended. Offended no way! I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment! It was a reminder that our past doesn’t define us. That anything is possible.
At the age of 26 I married my best friend we have been married for 28 years and have two sons aged 21 and 24. Our journey hasn’t been an easy one but our story is inspiring to say the least. I will save that story for another day!
I knew when I got married that I wanted to have flexibility to raise my family. I wasn’t enjoying the strict structure of a corporate 9 to 5 and I didn’t like the cap on my salary. To be able to create the type of life that I wanted for myself and my family I had to find another way. There was a nudge inside me to start my own business I just didn’t know what.
I had heard that recruiting was a great career and so I set out on another journey. In 1999 I landed an opportunity with a recruiting firm where I quickly became the top performer. That gave me the confidence to start my own firm in 2002. For 25 years I have owned and managed one of the top staffing firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2024 we were named top 5 women owned businesses. Serving my community for the last 25 years has been such a gift. One of the greatest rewards has been witnessing candidates we placed right out of college progress into leadership roles in top organizations.
A big part of my role as the owner and president of my firm was coaching my candidates, employees, and clients. I loved coaching and mentoring it came naturally to me. I was still reading and entrenched in the world of self-development and creating success. I had a passion for helping others through their career transitions and personal challenges. It felt like a natural progression to start Dare To Achieve a coaching side of the business in 2016.
I chose to go back to school and get NLP Master Coach Certified. It was during the time of my certification courses that I had my own major life transformation. I had cultivated financial freedom and created success but emotionally down deep inside I still didn’t feel good enough. My own transformation of really loving myself and cultivating an unshakeable self worth made me even more passionate about helping others grow into the greatest version of themselves and feel the incredible emotional freedom that I now felt.
During the pandemic I really missed the face to face connection with others so I started a podcast called Real Talk with Grace Redman where I have real life raw conversation with incredible people from my circles and communities who have over come challenges and create amazing! It was my way of serving the community and being connected. I am fueled by community and connections. I also launched my book Can I Live?! Dare to go from F*cked up to Fabulous in 2022. It is a step by step on how I overcame that self sabotaging voice to really create a life I love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have faced many obstacles and challenges in my life. Unraveling childhood trauma, building businesses while raising a family, releasing toxic relationships, ovecoming business roadblocks, navigating addiction within my immediate family, betrayals from those I loved, caring for my parents at the end of their lives, and overcoming a cancer diagnosis that threatened to derail me are just some of the challenges I have faced. I have learned that resilience, persistence, and grit build confidence and enable us to navigate the inevitable life storms. Yes, life is beautiful and it is hard. We are going to experience pain; however, it is up to us if we want to struggle or use our challenges as opportunities to expand and grow. My greatest teachers have been my challenges. Sure, I would have loved things to be easier, but then I wouldn’t have had the fire, drive, and passion to succeed. My pain and hardships fueled me to succeed and brought me closer to a higher power and my faith. I know without a doubt that whatever comes my way, I will be OK.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
