Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatou Sow

Hi Fatou, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

When i was in school my dream was to become a pediatrician, then i went to college and reality hit me that that might not work out. But behind the scenes I always wanted to go to school for business. I could sell anything i used to be on my block after school trying to sell candy bars , school fundraisers , anything ! After i noticed science wasn’t really my thing i switched my major to business and it was the best decision for me. School now became interesting , i really enjoyed going and i enjoyed being there! Before i graduated i went to tax school in that school i learned taxes of course which was kind of towards my major and helped me
Learn about other businesses. During Covid my auntie gave me an idea to sell wigs and bundles. I tackled the idea since i loved those products already. At first the business failed. Two years after graduation i went to North Carolina. Networking and meeting all those wonderful people i became so much better at my business. I had a business owner friend that would give me advice a lot , a local business owner that i could text and reach out to and always had wonderful networking events. I took what i learned came back to Albany, NY. And Simply Fa Beauty became a known and popular wig company here.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

when i first started in 2020 I didn’t have any idea on how to run a business . I thought it would be easy, but reality hit. It was one of those moments when you think you know it all but you actually don’t. I had to learn the hard way by failing. Vendor had issues ,I wasn’t putting my money back into my business and my marketing was off. When i look back it’s like wow. But my auntie gave me good advice , i went to nc met more wonderful people through many networking events, had some friends that ran their own business. Im always open to constructive criticism so that helps a lot. I took everything i learned in nc and came back to NY applied and and became a well known wig seller in Albany NY.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Simply Fa Beauty ?

Simply Fa Beauty sells hair. We sell bundles , wigs, hair accessories and just recently added Authentic perfumes and oils straight from Dubai (and many more to come). We are affordable for people in a budget can still look and feel good. That’s my favorite part of the brand, that we are here for people that might not be able to drop $700 for a wig but still want to look good. People love coming back and working with me because I make sure my customer service is great. Everyone feels great and confident about spending money with me and that makes me feel good , the trust part. Even though it’s lower prices i make sure the quality is there with everything and that is one thing that sets me apart.

What’s next?

Soon I plan on adding ready to wear wigs and raw hair so I can attract more different people. I want something for everybody on my brand. I want to attract more different people. So far i have wigs in Raleigh , North Carolina and partly in NYC. I plan on branching out to Ohio and another city soon. I also plan on doing wholesale options soon so other people that want to start a business have that option too. I also plan on doing classes on how to start and run a successful business, help people find vendors, let them know the mistakes I made with my business so they don’t make the same and stuff like that. I also plan on adding other beauty products to my brand.
