Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Davis.
Hi Erica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Crank Queens Boise was founded in 2019 by mountain biker, wellness coach, and community builder, Erica Davis. Crank Queens exists to empower women and create community through mountain biking.
Erica launched Crank Queens with the simple goal to build more opportunities for women to ride together. A novice mountain biker herself, and new to Boise, Erica was looking for opportunities to build both her riding skills, and her community. Erica is passionate about empowering women to reach their highest potential. (Learn more about her coaching services here.)
What started as a small group of women riding together has grown into an incredible community of women mountain bikers – beginner to expert, twenty-somethings to sixty-somethings. 100+ members and growing!
In addition to hosting rides in the Boise area, Crank Queens support a variety of cycling-related events and volunteer opportunities:
Group programs designed to teach you how to MTB
Retreats
Skills clinics for all levels
Bike mechanic and bike fit classes
Training and nutrition clinics
Trail building (in partnership with our local trail association, SWIMBA)
Social events and volunteer opportunities
Fundraisers
Participation in local/regional races and more
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of our biggest growing pains was engaging more women to lead rides. We created an Ambassador program in 2023 that really helped us expand our offerings and engage a broader perspective of leadership for the organization.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a Boise Idaho based women’s mountain biking community that offers group rides, skills clinics, retreats, bike maintenance programs, group health coaching programs, and more.
We are membership based and proud of the fact that within our first year of launching our membership program, we had over 100 members!
One of our main areas of focus is to support women who are new to the sport through offering skills clinics, beginner friendly rides, and group coaching programs to help get more women on bikes!
How do you define success?
Our success is really all about how we are growing and expanding the community!
