Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Padan
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was an elementary school teacher for 7 years and about 6 years in, I met my now husband who then worked in sales for a tech company. we dreamed big together, and he showed me some of his ideas for building a scandinavian style house just north of montreal, and I loved the idea. we both then decided to leave behind our jobs and start something together. not exactly an airbnb, not exactly a hotel. something in the in between, something that connects you to yourself, to nature, to design, to creativity. a place to disconnect. reconnect. a space to create. to let go. to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
mostly it has been a really beautiful journey, but of course with the economy, a pandemic, construction…you name it, there have been ups and there have been downs. I also think working with your life partner presents its own challenges; namely separating work from home which can be quite difficult and you need to truly make an effort to have some clear boundaries…something we are STILL working on, almost 6 years in!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
hinter is a small boutique hotel brand. we create design-driven spaces in nature, with minimal, japanese and scandinavian design cues, neutral and earthy tones, and lots of negative space in order to allow people to have space to feel creative. Right now we have 5 spaces to rent north of montreal, near mont tremblant resort. we are about to launch a space in vermont fall 2024 and have something brewing in portugal for 2025.
i personally am co-owner with my husband, and specialize in our social media marketing, copywriting, and part of the brand identity creation. hinter is known for its strong brarnd presence, especially in the short term rental space. we have a certain aesthetic, IRL and online, in hopes of making you feel a certain way; calm, inspired, creative. as a brand we promote slow living, getting in touch with nature and yourself, all due to intentional and thoughtful design, since it has a deep impact on your wellbeing and state of mind.
we currently have 5 spaces in tremblant – 2 x 2 bed and 3 x 3 bed. some spaces have outdoor saunas, outdoor hot tubs and fire pits. all 5 spaces have indoor fire places. we are dog-friendly as well, which people appreciate.
we enjoy helping our guests curate their stays – from which hikes to do, where to eat, where to buy groceries…you name it.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
