Today we’d like to introduce you to Elektra Yao
Hi Elektra , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my legal career even before I wanted to practice law. I grew up in NYC and was a working actor and filmmaker. I performed at La MaMa E.TC.; Theatre for the New City, TADA Theatre, and more! I starred in commercial for BMW, Nickelodeon, Noggin, MTV, and more. At 17, in college, I decided to pursue filmmaking and became interested in documentaries.
After working in film and TV professionally, I decided to pursue law in order to work with creatives and artists.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The role of a lawyer and entrepreneur is filled with many ups and downs. But what is constant is growth. Thes best way to structure your entrepreneurial journey is to define what success means to you. Your definition of success can change over time. But it will be the pillar that guides you and supports you even when times are rough.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned is to keep on learning. I am constantly studying ways to make the client experience better, better technology that we can use to support staff. In addition to being up to date on legal trends, cases, new policies, and new regulations.
I am not stagnant and I believe that a law firm should always be at the forefront of new ways to create a positive and solid client experience. The law is tough and complex and clients have a lot a stake for a given case. Our job as the law firm is to ensure clarity, transparency, and hard work.
