Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kerrie Carter-walker
Hi Dr. Kerrie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in the small town of Cuero, TX, where everyone knows everybody and nothing goes unnoticed. As the middle child with two sisters, I faced significant challenges starting at the age of six. From ages six to ten, I endured molestation, which left me struggling with insecurity, low self-esteem, a confused identity, and suicidal ideation. On the outside, I appeared to have it all together, but inside, I carried the weight of shame, guilt, and sadness from my childhood trauma.
Without support, I did my best to navigate through broken relationships, school, college, and adulthood. However, in my late 20s and early 30s, the unresolved pain finally caught up with me. I found myself in a dark closet, ready to end my life with a 9mm gun. At that critical moment, I heard God speaking to me about the work He had planned for me. That divine intervention shifted my perspective and propelled me into my true purpose.
Today, I am a Minister, Transformational Speaker, Coach, Realtor and Investor. I dedicate my life to helping women heal from childhood trauma, find freedom, and walk in their God-given purpose. My husband, Robert Walker Jr., and I have a ministry called Abundantly Anchored Ministries. We are a healing and deliverance street ministry, the hands and feet of God and we spread messages of hope, faith and love to all people of all races and ethnicities.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My road has not been smooth, but I look at life with beauty. I don’t mind suffering for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in Romans 5:3-5 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. I am honored to have endured hardships because I am now able to help so many women get to the other side of their pain and trauma through soul healing. It’s work, but its worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Abundantly Anchored Ministries. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Abundantly Anchored Ministries – we are a healing and deliverance street ministry, the hands and feet of God and we spread messages of hope, faith, and love to all people of all races and ethnicities. We feed the hungry in our community and provide resources like clothing, housing assistance, toiletries, etc. for families in need. Acts. 20:24 says But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God’s wonderful kindness and love. Our assignment is to help those who are less fortunate and that’s what we plan to do with the guidance of The Holy Spirit.
What matters most to you? Why?
The Bible says in Proverbs 21:13 whoever dismisses the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. The poor and less fortunate are who matter the most.
