Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Williams.
Charles, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started photography like many other people – with an iPhone hahaha. No, seriously it was an android phone. That got the attention of a friend who was a photographer also. So, as photographers often do, he suggested I buy a camera. I began offering lifestyle portraits and events and have built a pretty good word of mouth clientele. Lately I have been doing corporate and non profit events and tours as well as organizational headshots along with the occasional lifestyle session. I am so grateful to say that I was asked to capture the Celebration of Alabama Arts recently and I am still beaming from that honor!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has NOT been smooth. The common struggles have been with confidence and not being so hard on myself. Then there are annoying things like equipment errors read: fat fingering cam settings. So to any photographers out there wondering, you are not the “only one”. Of course there were also people wanting services rendered for next to nothing but I haven’t encountered that lately.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started Lush Photog Around 2017 and I capture Lifestyle and Headshot Portraits as well as events. I can say I am known (in my area) for events because I get the most calls for events. I’d venture to say my personality sets me apart- I learned to be sociable so the stuffiest event can still be fun. I’m not a people person per se but my Mother taught me manners and compassion for others and that has carried me a long way. As corny as it may sound, I pride myself on making sure people feel their best and that has yielded satisfied subjects and clients. I have noticed that when my clients have fond memories about their experience, THEY LOVE THE PHOTOS!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Hitting a double in little league baseball. (I didn’t turn out to be a big athlete lol)
