Today we’d like to introduce you to Bronte Williamson
Hi Bronte , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up as the only child of two disabled parents exposed me early to the challenges of limited income, ongoing illness, and persistent pain. My parents are beautiful people, but they were handed a difficult set of circumstances. This led to growing up in an environment that wasn’t always ‘pretty’ or ‘easy’. To cope, my brain focused on what it could control: food and my body. This eventually led to my personal journey with Bulimia Nervosa, my very first battle for survival.
Without access to the necessary financial support for proper healthcare (due to my BMI not meeting the required threshold), I had no choice but to figure out how to recover on my own. My brain, as it does now, sought solutions. I fought for my life, and once I could afford appropriate treatment as a young adult—similar to the services this platform now provides—I did.
When I recovered, I made a vow to prevent others from experiencing what I had, or at the very least, to hold space for them through their struggles so they never felt alone. That’s what we strive for with this platform.
Nourished Not Deprived began in humble circumstances, starting from my parents’ garage with a laptop, a rough attempt at a Squarespace website, and a burning passion to give back. It was born from a promise I made to ‘little Bronte’—to give others what she and her family didn’t have.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been anything but smooth. Resilience is a term often associated with my journey, but it didn’t come without its struggles. Growing up with two disabled parents came with significant challenges—limited income, chronic illness, and pain. School wasn’t a refuge either, as I was often bullied, which led to isolation and eventually a battle with Bulimia Nervosa at 14.
My struggle was made worse by a lack of accessible healthcare. Since my BMI didn’t meet the required threshold, I couldn’t access the professional support I needed. This forced me to find my own path to recovery until I could finally afford proper help in young adulthood. Surviving that battle at such a young age taught me I could overcome anything.
These experiences fueled my determination to create a space where others wouldn’t have to endure the same hardships. That led me to pursue a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) and to found Nourished Not Deprived. Every step has been a testament to overcoming adversity and a commitment to making a difference for others.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nourished Not Deprived?

I’m especially passionate about risk aversion and safety in our organisation. We’ve implemented tiered identification strategies and safety plans to address any potential harm to patients or practitioners early. Keeping both our team and our clients safe is our top priority.
