Hi AUDREY, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

My name is Audrey Brooks, the founder of Brooks Counseling and Consulting Services. I am a certified Christian Counselor and Business Strategist. My interest in mental health arose from my own struggles with low self-esteem, insecurities, and an inability to let go of past issues. Through my healing journey, I founded the nonprofit Women Empowering Women in South Florida, which now also has chapters in Houston and the Kansas City metro area.

I vividly remember the loneliness and helplessness I felt during my struggles, which inspired the creation of Brooks Counseling Services. With my experience and education, I knew I could help women facing challenges related to abuse, low self-esteem, and lingering past hurts. In 2014, I established Brooks Counseling Services, a faith-based support service that combines biblical principles with psychotherapy to assist women in overcoming their past.

Since its inception, Brooks Counseling Services has aimed to transform lives. My counseling journey has been more rewarding and fulfilling than I ever imagined. I work diligently to “shift leaders from past to purpose, helping them right where they are.” I believe that anyone can grow through change and become mentally, spiritually, and physically well-adjusted individuals. Brooks Counseling and Consulting Services has successfully helped entrepreneurs start, build, and grow their businesses through strategic coaching and guidance.

In collaboration with Women Empowering Women, Brooks Counseling and Consulting Services offers discounted counseling and free group sessions to empower, educate, and encourage women to be their best selves. The “Seven Keys to Letting Go” program has helped many clients redirect their minds, recreate purpose, and restore their hearts.

I am a native of Winnfield, Louisiana, married for over 37 years, and the mother of three children: one son and two daughters. My passion and lifelong purpose are to continue empowering, educating, and encouraging individuals to release the past, resist stagnation, and rise from spiritually desolate places, provoking forward progress that generates growth, whether through counseling or consulting.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

The journey has not always been smooth. My path to establishing Brooks Counseling and Consulting Services and founding Women Empowering Women was marked by significant challenges and personal struggles. My own battles with low self-esteem, insecurities, and the difficulty of letting go of past issues were profound obstacles that ultimately shaped my dedication to mental health and helping others.

One of the most significant struggles was not allowing my past issues to be triggered while counseling clients. Establishing a nonprofit and expanding its reach to new chapters in Houston and the Kansas City metro area required overcoming various logistical and administrative hurdles.

Building Brooks Counseling Services from the ground up was a formidable task, requiring not only professional expertise but also a deep emotional and spiritual commitment. Integrating faith-based principles with psychotherapy presented unique challenges, as it involved bridging different approaches to healing and ensuring they worked harmoniously together to benefit clients.

Despite these struggles, each challenge has reinforced my resolve and equipped me with the tools and insights necessary to empower and uplift others. The satisfaction and rewards of seeing positive transformations in my clients’ lives have made every obstacle worthwhile.
