Hi Amber, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

Amber Champagne is the owner and founder of Champagne Apothecary, ETHYST® skincare, and The Esthetician’s Guide to Business.

Amber is a Licensed Esthetician, Best Selling Author, and former Senior National Educator for Benefit Cosmetics!

During her career with Benefit, she trained thousands of other estheticians all over the country and helped write groundbreaking educational and strategic business content Benefit used globally contributing to the company’s overall corporate growth towards becoming a $2 billion company!

Prior to starting her own business, Amber had an accomplished career in multi-level retail & corporate management for almost 20 years.

She’s been a Licensed Esthetician and Clinical Herbalist for almost a decade and struggled with adult acne and hormonal skin issues herself. Amber ardently researched this phenomena, something she calls The Midlife Skin Crisis ©, and created a skincare line called ETHYST® help people overcome these challenges for good.

Typically, what we see in the skincare industry is that aging products are too heavy for those dealing with hormonal skin conditions and hormonal skin treatments are too aggressive and cause aging.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Absolutely not! lol It has been a whirlwind ride with obstacles I never expected, but running this business has helped me to become even better at pivoting. You can’t be married to your ideas or your plans when you own a business. For example, how could anyone ever have known that the world would be shut down in 2020? You can’t. When I started my business in 2019, I never knew I’d have to become only only the year following and build up an entire business in the e-commerce world from nothing to be able to sustain myself. But I did it and my business is all the better for it. We sell to people all over the world now because of our e-commerce presence and I’m not sure it would have happened – at least not so quickly – had I not been forced into doing so.

And it’s not just big things like that. Every day there are challenges and changes that I need to deal with, but that’s part of being a business owner. It’s knowing that things are always going to ebb and flow and being able to have a mindset that not only allows for that, but encourages it. In the changes is where I find some of my greatest concepts, ideas, and products!

I do a Space called Self Care and Meditation on Mondays at 8:30 pm EST that has helped so many people to make improvements in their lives.

I also do a podcast with a friend on X Live every Monday at 12pm EST called “Calls with Friends” where we discuss all kinds of life information and hacks. It’s a fun time!

Beyond that, I love the Nateland Podcast with Nate Bargatze, Dusty Slay, Brian Bates, and Aaron Webber. Just a really fun pod to listen to. it helps me laugh and alleviate stress, which is huge for me as a very busy small business owner and comedy writer.

The last thing I’ll say is protect your energy when it comes to consumption. Consume only things that make the most sense for you. All of the self-help books, pods etc can’t help you if they don’t resonate with you or if they’re giving off vibes that don’t feel right to you. Just because it helped someone else, doesn’t mean it’s right for you.
