Today we’d like to introduce you to Treyon Sargent
Hi Treyon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I started off dancing at the age of 11 at a summer camp. The camp would host an end of the year show and everyone in the camp would kind of have their opportunity to showcase what they could do. Being that I grew up around dance thats what I chose. At first I took honestly just took it as a hobby, still performing in different places like church, banquets, schools. It was genuinely something I enjoyed doing. But it was one year at the age of 13, I auditioned for AileyCamp Miami, a summer camp hosted by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. That is when I started actually taking Professional Dance classes, building character, and actually envisioning myself being an artist, developing self and performing for well …the world. I was then discovered by Ricardo Dume who was my what the camp would call “Group Leader” and basically took me under his wing and introduced me to this entire world of dance professionally. Then well… Here I am. I’ve done a lot in my life because of him, God, and believing in myself. I’ve been through MANY trials, ones spoken and unspoken, but here I am, Continuing to grow, heal, and share that to heal others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well it indeed has not been a smooth road. But all roses have thorns no matter the color, size or shape. I’ve been denied more than accepted by family, the industry, friends, and sometimes what could feel like the world. However, afterwhile I realized it’s really only the world you have to work with and it’s here for you to grow through. Over the years I’ve really had to learn and accept that life really is a revolving prism of energy. Infinite discovery and re-discovery the entire journey,
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a visualizer, choreographer, performing artist, actor, singer, and model. A FULL jack of all trades. I specialize in Dance and am known to do exactly that. My most proud moment would probably being on Legendary HBO MAX. An actual reoccurring popular show. The whole experience moving to LA or a little while, being on set, red carpets, interviews. I think it was during that time I kind of really had to pat myself on the back and be proud that I did it.
I would say really its me being me that separates me from others, There is absolutely no one like me. There is no one like you. We are all here meant to be different it is when you start comparing yourself to others you then become apart.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My most fond childhood memory would have to be me performing West African at Ailey Camp Miami at the Adrienne Arsht center for a SOLD out audience. The rawr of the crowd I literally will NEVER forget. My first big stage production and it was truly one to remember.
