Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Elder
Hi Theresa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m just a simple farm girl that was looking to help people out to teach them the basics of cooking, canning and growing your own food. With the help of friends and family I started up Simply Whip It Up to show people lets get back to the days of us doing our own cooking and preparing. Showing our kids where food comes from and how to do hard work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I am not a person that wants to be on my phone all the time or social media. But where does everyone go when they have a question – social media or google. So, in order to help people I had to get out of my normal and start making videos and editing. It does take me twice as long to do everything when recording but at the same time I know I am making a difference showing people how to be proud of what they have made and accomplish. Which automatically puts a smile on someone’s face.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a gal that provides food for her family off the family farm. When I say family farm I mean, all my family plants a garden and we share all our produce with each other. My family is the best around and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support and love we give each other. Whenever and I mean whenever something is needed, I know my whole family I can count on. So, I specialize in doing family traditions and that is the whole family working hard to put farm food on the table all year round. I have been blessed with always wanting to help people and my main goal is to put a smile on someone’s face every day. In my cooking show I do that by being my true goofy self and helping people realize this is hard work but so rewarding all at the same time. I am most proud of people coming up to me and telling me that they love my show. When they do I know that I made a difference one person at a time. What sets me apart from everyone else is I am here just doing what I know and my family traditional ways trying to make someone else have a smile from it.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when the whole family would load up and go camping with our horses. When we’d pull up to a campground the faces that other campers would give us like is it ever going to end? We’d pull out 6 kids out of the vehicle and then 8 horses here they come. I really don’t know how my parents did it. We’d play tag on the horses through the pine trees. I had a pony named Mooney and he was faster than most horses, so we’d never get caught. Dad and mom would pitch a tent, have coolers full and pull out the Rubbermaid tubs full of snacks. Of course, my parents would make the best food over the campfire. I remember dad sweating over this huge grate cooking the meat on the fire to feed 8 of us and mom would be whipping up all the sides. We never went hungry, and we’d have so many laughs telling stories around the fire.
