Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Huggins
Hi Terrence, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got started chasing music while attending Tuskegee University as a member of the Golden Voice Choir. After a short stint in school, I jumped in to production due to the fact that it was so hard then to find the sound that I wanted to push forward.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! I’m actually appreciative that it hasn’t been… “Pressure breeds diamonds…” and that statement definitely has proven true in this journey. Being faced with the struggles of taking it all in with no team, and individually trying to do everything from promotion to networking myself definitely took a toll early in. Those experiences and in learning the ins and outs of the industry definitely attributed to where I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Music Producer/Engineer and currently serving as the Head of Production at Black Label Recording Studio in Hampton, VA. I specialize in Sound and Vocal Production. I am most proud of my first ever Latin Grammy nomination that I received about 2 years ago for my work on an album with an artist based out of Brazil. Honestly, I would say that me chasing to take a dab in as many genres as possible definitely sets me apart from others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I wouldn’t say that a lot of what Ive been able to accomplish would attribute to “luck” in general. I am all about affirmation and in speaking positively about where I want to be in life. I personally think that this approach is the reason I have been able to accomplish so much to this point in my career.
