Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Cosme
Hi Sebastian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started The Loud Spot with Sebastian purely based of fun. It was in the middle of COVID, and at the time, I had lost my company and even myself. In a way to get back to going back to my “roots”, I thought it would be fun to start a podcast and talk about music I listened to in my late teens and early 20’s. I had no clue that almost 4 years later, several cohost changes, and changes to the overall production and quality, I would still be doing this. Our audience keeps growing, and that is something I am proud of. I owe a lot of how far we have come to my producer Sam McIntosh. He has definitely helped out the show more than I would have ever thought possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say we are still on the road. LOL. Of course there are bumps along the way, but that’s what gives us character. Everytime we are going to fast and there is a sharp turn, we pump the brakes, rethink how to approach and then execute. No road is ever easy, and if it is, you are doing it all wrong, and you will end up having to back track to go back to the place of beginning. Just my thoughts on the subject.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When I decided to really get into podcasting, I didn’t want to listen to anyone else’s show. I know I can learn from them, but I thought that if I did listen to other podcast’s I wouldn’t be authentic. I wanted to create my own brand first. Now that I have, I do listen in for pointers or ideas. It was very important for me to stay true to who I was so that my audience didn’t get a fake version of me. I always think that if you are yourself, you have nothing to hide. It makes it much easier for me to just be me. Whether people like me or not, it’s not my problem. I am who I am.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Going back to the last question, I would say to literally just be yourself. Have fun with it. You will not grow over night, so don’t think that you will. No matter how entertaining you think you are, you still have to grow an audience. Be patient and stay consistent. If you give up, you will never know what could have been. Have no regrets!
