Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Johnson.

Hi Rodney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

I’m a self taught portrait photographer and visual artist.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Not at all. It took me almost 10 years to kind of figure out how to make this viable. Experience in life has taught and translated into my artistic journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I like to think I do a good job of capturing authenticity in my portraiture. The way I’ve been able to develop my lighting technique has helped me be better at telling something real in my pictures. I have an attention to detail that I think lends itself well in the collaborative process that makes up most of my work. We tend to bring out things we didn’t know we were looking for when the space is built on expressing yourself.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?

It’s going to keep doing what it’s been doing. Art is forever evolving, and it’s going to have different levels of dedication. People are going to combine technologies and express experiences.
