Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscila Buiar.
Hi Priscila, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello there! My name is Priscila Buiar. I’m from Maringá, Paraná and I’m 33 years old. I have a degree in performing arts and have worked as an actress and model for 24 years. My work gained greater recognition through the series “Magenta” (2018) and “Stupid Wife” (2022).
In addition to the many advertising campaigns, some of the most relevant works are the soap opera “Reis,” on Record TV, which is currently on air; the series “Borges Importadora,” available on Netflix; the film “Sala Escura;” “A força do querer” from Globo Network– Gloria Perez (2017) among many others. To date, I’ve been part of 5 soap operas, 9 series, and 12 films.
Through my work, I have won 19 awards, which include Best Drama Actress, Best Horror Actress, Best Personality, National Reference in the Performing Arts, and Fitness Influencer. In total, there are already 27 national and international nominations.
Currently, on the internet, I share my beauty care routine with my followers every day, focusing on a healthy lifestyle based on vegetarian food, as well as content about fashion, arts and travel.
In 2023 I created the project “Selfcare by Pri Buiar,” where I influence and encourage– with great responsibility–my followers to take care of themselves, whether through physical activity, healthy eating, developing the habit of reading, teaching financial education, talking about mental health and the importance of therapy, and much more. I believe in the strength and power of the internet to spread and encourage good habits.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, when it comes to an artistic career, there are a lot of obstacles. Being able to make a living just from art is a huge privilege that I was only able to achieve last year. Until it happened, I had to have a few other occupations to survive. I also worked as a model since I was 9. I’m a digital influencer, content creator, and so on. I’ve worked in front of and behind the cameras and sometimes (most of the time) doing both. But I never looked at this part of my life as an obstacle. I think that all the experiences I had have made me a better actress. Also, it gave me the strength, because only if you really love art can you find so much persistence despite all obstacles, and the humility to understand that this career is a roller coaster: sometimes you’re up, at the top of it, and sometimes you’re down. These phases are part of the path; you just have to keep strong, persisting in what you want, and being connected to your values and virtues.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In 2023 I found myself a multiple artist. Created the project Selfcare, developed a few publicities on my Instagram account, and the collaboration collection with my sister. So, I’ve found myself a businesswoman, creating and leading a few projects, and the feeling is amazing. The responsibility is scary, and there are a few nights without sleep and a lot of work, but at the same time I feel very proud of myself for having the courage to do things out of my comfort zone. Walk, and the path will open itself. Of course, I have a few people supporting me like my family and my amazing fans and followers who are always by my side. But I feel like this was an important experience and step for me. Once you have your own projects, you can decide what you are going to talk about, and you can ‘give light’ to some issues of society. I decided to encourage other women to develop themselves. I can create my own narrative, dedicate myself, my values, and my soul to something that I truly believe in. That’s very powerful. And I get the chance to work and collaborate with my dearest and most talented friends.
How do you define success?
Success for me is to be healthy, to be loved by my family and my dearest friends, and to be able to share this experience of life with the people I love the most. Also, when it comes to work, I think it’s to be able to make a living doing what you love. It seems to simple, so insignificant , but when it comes to art, I know that it’s a huge privilege. I always wanted to make a living from my art and in this year – after 24 years of work – it finally happened, so I’m very aware and grateful.
Another thing that’s a big success for me is the project that I created since 2023: Selfcare by Pri Buiar, where I inspire my fans and followers to take care of their physical and mental health. This project is a big purpose for me. To give instruments to other women to develop themselves, to be even better, smarter, and healthier is an honor. I learn a lot with them and I’ve grown a lot too. Together, we created a community of woman helping and supporting each other.
Another dream that became reality this year was the partnership with my sister Milena Buiar. I always wanted to work with her. She is my best friend, the person that knows me the most, and since 2023 we developed a collection with a Brazilian brand called Atrixo, and we had a few collections since then. She’s also part of the team of Selfcare. Working with her, that has the same values and purpose that I have is the meaning of success for me.
